    Bryn Coleman, incident commander from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: "The conditions inside the station at this time are quite arduous for our firefighters."

    The fire at Nottingham's railway station was not the only thing causing disruption around the city this morning.

    Waverley Street in Nottingham was closed in the early hours when a man became unwell when he was Tasered by police.

    The man was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre and a police officer was also hurt during the incident.

    A second man has also been arrested in connection with the robbery.

    The incident has been referred to the police watchdog.

    It caused severe disruption on the tram network first thing this morning.

    In the past few minutes we have been told sections of the roof are being removed at Nottingham's railway station.

    John Mills, group manager for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: "It has been an incredibly demanding incident, our crews have worked very hard to try and contain it.

    "We always have as our first priority lives at risk, so it was initially person's reported because this has happened in the midst of rush hour.

    "It was a busy time for the station and a busy time for the city."

    The fire service has confirmed it was first alerted to a fire in the toilets at Nottingham Railway Station at 06:30 this morning.

    John Mills, who is operational commander for the service, said the flames spread "very quickly".

    He said it progressed into voids making it "complex" because they can't now see the orange flames.

    He said the fire is still not out.

    Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service believe the fire started in a toilet in the new section of the railway station.

    The operation is still ongoing and crews are trying to contain the fire within the building.

    There is still a strong emergency service presence at Nottingham's railway station this morning.

    The blaze broke out at about 06:20 and there were reports that the foyer was filled with smoke.

    There has been one unreported sighting of smoke coming out of a toilet in the platform.

    It is fairly quiet now, in the sense that the smoke has now disappeared but there is still travel chaos.

    There will be no trains going in and out of Nottingham today.
