    We've had lots of comments on our Facebook page, external following the death of 100-year-old Sofija Kaczan, whose neck was broken in a robbery in Normanton last week.

    Kate Gilbert said: "So sad and angry that this poor lady and others like her cannot walk in broad daylight in this Country without being attacked or be in fear of being attacked. What has this Country of ours come to!"

    He said: "Knife crime nationally has gone up by 22% and over the same period it's gone up by 11% in Nottinghamshire.

    "That's not to deny that there's a problem but in recent incidents of knife crime, people have been arrested very, very quickly."

    People in Normanton have been paying tribute to 100-year-old Sofija Kaczan, who died 10 days after her neck was broken during a robbery.

    A neighbour said: “She was a lovely lady who would mind her own business and now and again I would see her going up and down the road.

    "She was a lovely person who never harmed anyone. It is sad news but unfortunately this is society – it should not be like this.”

    Another man living in the area said: “It is quite sad for the whole neighbourhood because she was quite a part of this whole street. It is quite shocking and saddening.”
