    There's been an accident on the A52 in Derby near Pentagon Island.

    Two cars were involved just before 09:30, with one on its side and police, fire and ambulance in attendance.

    The fire service says it's working to extricate a woman who's stuck in one of the vehicles.

    An ambulance and doctors treated casualties at the scene.

    A man who was arrested after a report of a suspicious item in a car in Leicester on Monday is due before magistrates in the city this morning.

    The 26-year-old, from Leicester, is charged with stalking involving serious alarm and distress.

    Leicestershire Police were called on Monday morning to a report of a suspicious item in a car parked in Huntingdon Road.

    A 22-year-old Leicester man who was arrested yesterday afternoon has since been released from custody pending further inquiries.

    Derby residents are back in their homes after a fire and explosion triggered the evacuation of the building on Monday.

    There was a fire in the disused plant room on top of Norman House near Friar Gate, which the fire service has said was accidental.

    The residents were housed in emergency accommodation.

    A firm whose digger crashed in to a bridge in Nottingham yesterday causing traffic chaos has apologised.

    Total Reclaims Demolition said one of its diggers fell off a low loader after it clipped the bridge over Middleton Boulevard, near the QMC, during morning rush hour.

    The southbound side was closed until late last night to recover the digger and repair the carriageway but it has now reopened.

    The city council said it intends to claim for the cost of the damage.
