    It happened in Humberstone Lane near the junction with Barkbythorpe Road at about 08:20 on Tuesday.

    The driver of the car can be seen driving away shortly after the cyclist, who suffered minor injuries, is knocked to the ground.

    PC Richard Smith said: "The cyclist was lucky not to suffer more serious injuries and we need to speak to the driver of the car involved to establish the full circumstances."

    England rugby player Jonathan Joseph is to be given an honorary degree, external by the University of Derby this summer.

    The 27-year-old, who hails from the city, will be made Honorary Master of the University next month.

    Honorary degrees are also due to be given to the Bishop of Derby, Dr Alastair Redfern, and clothes designer Daniel Hanson.

    Hucknall Road has been revealed as the most complained about street in Nottingham for potholes.

    The city council said it will be resurfacing a stretch of the "key route" after a freedom of information request revealed 38 people had complained about the state of the road between April last year and March 2018.

    Work is due to start on 18 June between Arnold Road and the junction of Gala Way, with the road closed between 9:30 and 15:30 for about 10 days.

    Councillor Dave Liversidge, cabinet member for transport, said: "Hucknall Road is a key route into the city and the surface is in need of attention - these works will ensure the road remains safe for all road users."

    A 58-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being found seriously injured by an Ilkeston phone box, external.

    Police believe the man had been assaulted before being discovered in the Albion Centre car park, near Burr Lane in the early hours of Monday.

    He was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. Police have appealed for information.

    A man was stabbed in the Tarbert Close and Bosworth Walk area of the Meadows and another man suffered head injuries in Manifold Gardens. Both attacks happened on 21 May.

    A man from Grantham has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm, actual bodily harm, common assault and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon.

    Police are hunting a man who robbed a post office in Borrowash yesterday.

    Staff said the man, who they believe was holding a gun, demanded money from the till and left with cash at about 15:00.

    An Ashbourne farmer who decided not to send his cows to slaughter last year says he is planning to launch a vegan restaurant and cooking classes at the site.

    Jay Wilde spared the cows after taking over the running of the farm from his father and realising he couldn't bear to condemn them to death.

    More than 60 cows were sent to an animal sanctuary in Norfolk and about a dozen stayed at the farm as pets.

    He told BBC Radio Derby the decision may have cost him up to £50,000 - but he's hoping to make up for it with his new venture.

    He said: "We're hoping to convert some of the buildings to holiday lets, part of it to a vegan kitchen.

    "We already have an authentic Victorian bread oven in one of the kitchens so that seems like it could be built into the scheme.

    "We don't have the money to pay for the scheme so we'll be launching a crowdfund.

    "It does feel a bit strange to ask for people's money but I suppose this scheme is something of interest and value to other people."

    Two men entered the Turney Road property via the garage on 30 May, grabbed the safe and left in the victim's Mercedes AMG.

    Plans to transform a disused building above Leicester's Haymarket shopping centre into a 67-room Travelodge hotel have been revealed by the city council, external.

    The move would form part of a £10m project that would see improvements made to the Haymarket car park and two lifts being installed to serve the hotel, the car park and the recently-refurbished Haymarket Theatre.

    City Mayor Sir Peter Soulsby is due to make a decision on the proposal later this month.

    Police are to make an appeal on national television this morning for thieves to return items that were stolen from a chapel in Derbyshire.

    Several brass items were taken from Catton chapel, in the grounds of Swadlincote's Catton Park last month.

    They include a cross, two candlesticks and an eagle lectern.

    Paul Russell, the officer in charge of the investigation is to appear on BBC One's Crimewatch Roadshow at 11:00 to appeal for information on the theft.
