    Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg says he's "delighted" his sister Annunziata has been elected to the European Parliament to represent the East Midlands.

    She's one of three Brexit Party members who took seats in last week's election, alongside one Labour and one Lib Dem MEP.

    "It's a great thing to have the confidence of your fellow citizens and be sent to represent the nation abroad," he added.

    A team at De Montfort University in Leicester have carried out the first survey of its kind into excessive sweating.

    It's hoped that the national research can help find a cure for the condition, which affects up to 3% of the population.

    More than 250 patients and clinicians were surveyed during the study into hyperhidrosis.

    One affected man told the BBC: "On a day-to-day basis I have to change my t-shirt two or three times. In the summer it's much, much worse.

    "I can bathe, get out the bath, dry myself off and then really and truly I need to get back in again because I'm soaking wet again."

    Those behind the study have said there may be the potential to create medication that changes the behaviour of sweat glands.

    It's thought better antiperspirants could also be developed.

    A man was kicked, pushed to the ground and stamped on in an attack in Beeston.

    It happened just before 19:00 on High Road on Friday 29 March. A woman also threw beer over the victim.

    Michael Gove, who is in the running to become the next Prime Minister, has pledged to allow EU citizens living in the UK at the time of the referendum to apply for citizenship free of charge.

    He's said to have got the idea from Alberto Costa, Conservative MP for Leicestershire South, who welcomed the proposal and said "it's the right thing to do".

    Mr Costa quit his government post over ministers' attitudes to EU nationals living in the UK.

    Mr Gove has now said said if he became the Tory leader he would scrap the "settled status" scheme for European nationals, which requires proof of the right to be in the UK.

    A pedestrian is still in hospital after he was hit by a car in Leicestershire yesterday.

    The man in his 60s was hit as he crossed Nottingham Road in Ashby-de-la-Zouch just before 01:00.

    Leicestershire Police said he suffered serious injuries and remains in a critical but stable condition at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.

    Officers have asked anyone who saw what happened to get in touch with them.

    The 21-year-old was last seen in Dalton Road, Belper, at 14:30 yesterday.

    A Chicago scheme where youth workers try and tackle potential violent crime before it happens is now being used in Nottingham to tackle knife crime.

    The team of people, known as violence interrupters, are chosen for their credibility with young people in the area and use radios to communicate with security staff in the city centre and get to violent incidents as they're unfolding.

    During a pilot period in March, the team worked with 26 young people suspected of carrying knives and said they helped avoid five potential crimes.

    One of the youth workers is Maxine Cockett, who is co-founder of the organisation "Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges". She said they try de-escalate serious situations.

    "We will try and get there as soon as we can," she said. "And we're there to try and calm the situation down and talk to that young person before it escalates."

    Police and fire officers will be back in Church Gresley, Derbyshire this morning to investigate the cause of a large fire on Sunday night.

    The blaze engulfed a stack of pallets at Cotton Transport, causing some gas cylinders to explode. It could be seen from as far away as Warwickshire.

    Nottinghamshire Police say they still have officers at the scene of a disturbance in Hyson Green, which involved a group of men.

    Very few details have been released, but officers were called to Radford Road at about 14:45 yesterday.
