    Bombardier in Derby could soon be building a new monorail for Egypt.

    The firm has been named as the preferred bidder for a project to build a 34-mile (55 km) line through the capital Cairo, and linking to the pyramids at Giza.

    The deal for Bombardier, to provide 70 four-car units, is worth €3bn (£2.65bn) but is still subject to contract and final confirmation.

    Market Harborough railway station will be closed for six days from today while nearly 2.5 miles (4 km) of track is laid and work on a footbridge is finished.

    No trains will run through the station this week as part of the Midland Main Line upgrade.

    Some disruption is expected for passengers during this time with train diversions and bus replacement services.

    Also, anyone travelling on East Midlands Trains to or from London St Pancras until 2 June has been advised to check their journeys.

    Thousands of Derby County fans who travelled to Wembley Stadium yesterday were left disappointed as their team lost to Aston Villa in the play-off final.

    Despite their efforts in the final few minutes, the Rams could not find the back of the net for an equaliser.

    But there was some good news afterwards as manager Frank Lampard brushed off any speculation of him leaving for Chelsea next season.

    After a few showers yesterday, it looks like they're back with us through the course of today.

    That said, we'll probably see a bit more in the way of some sunshine throughout this morning and this afternoon but... there are some scattered showers about through most of Tuesday.
