    A double decker bus has toppled over on its side in the front garden of a home.

    It happened outside the New Plough Inn on Leicester Road, Hinckley, shortly before 20:00 on Tuesday. No-one was on the bus at the time.

    Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service have said the bus ended up on its side "following hydraulic equipment failure".

    A Leicestershire woman who denies murdering her newborn baby told a nurse it would be “just her luck” that the baby would have been alive when she put it in a carrier bag.

    The defence has begun in the case of Hannah Cobley, who’s 29 and from Stoney Stanton.

    The court heard how she collapsed and was taken to hospital three days after secretly giving birth in an outhouse at the family home.

    The conversation with a nurse took place shortly after she’d revealed to her father that she’d given birth, placed the baby in carrier bags and left it by a shed in the garden.

    She told the nurse she didn’t know whether the baby was breathing when she dumped it. The trial continues.

    People with upcoming reservations at a Loughborough hotel are being warned it has gone bust.

    The company behind Charnwood Lodge was wound up by a High Court judge earlier this month after the company couldn't pay its debts.

    Ahead of Nottingham Forest's anniversary celebrations at the City Ground later, the Brian Clough statue near Nottingham's Old Market Square has been getting a spruce-up.

    The council said the statue got a clean and a polish today "to make sure it is looking at its very best."

    The 'Cloughie' statue was unveiled in King Street more than 10 years ago and came about after a campaign by fans.

    A national conference is being held in Derby today for those affected by the Windrush scandal.

    It's a year since it emerged many people who migrated to the UK before 1973, particularly from Caribbean countries, were not given their proper legal status and some were even wrongly deported.

    While the government has pledged to resolve the issues, the UK Windrush Movement is hosting a Compensation and Status Conference at Derby's West Indian Centre to update victims and offer advice.

    A driver was injured when he was threatened with a baseball bat by another motorist in what police have described as a road rage attack.

    The assault happened near St John's Church on Main Road, Bamford at about 15:00 on 6 May.

    Derbyshire Police said it is alleged the driver of a black Vauxhall assaulted the driver of a brown Land Rover and his passenger with a baseball bat, then drove away.

    The force said the Land Rover driver sustained minor injuries.

    They said the row was witnessed by several people and are now asking for them to come forward, particularly a lorry driver who stopped to help the victim.

    Three more men have been arrested over a gun being fired in Bestwood Park shortly after midnight last Thursday, taking the total arrests to seven.

    Police said the latest men to be arrested, aged 24, 23 and 22, were stopped in a vehicle on Wilkinson Street, Hyson Green at about 16:15 yesterday.

    The force said four men arrested on Tuesday as part of the investigation remain in police custody.

    A Derbyshire farm says it has cracked a new way of selling its eggs via vending machine.

    Watergo Farm, near Mickleover, says the machines, which are normally reserved for sweets and drinks, are an "eggcellent" way of allowing customers to come to the farm and buy goods whenever they like.

    Ed Pott from the farm said: "It was just something different."

    He said the farm has 12,000 hens that lay 10,000 eggs per day and the machine is stocked two or three times a day depending on how busy they are.

    Leicestershire Police said the man who was hit by a car outside the Masjid At-Taqwa mosque in Humberstone Road is now in a stable condition in hospital.

    The force's statement said the road had reopened and officers would still be in the area to carry out inquiries.

    It added: "Early inquiries led officers to believe the vehicle did not deliberately drive at the pedestrians."

    A Nottinghamshire man says he's terrified his house is going to fall down after a sinkhole appeared in his driveway.

    The 1m-wide hole appeared outside Barry Brown's bungalow on Southfields Close, Kirkby Woodhouse five weeks ago.

    Since then, surveyors from Ashfield District Council, Severn Trent Water, and the coal authority have all examined it and said they can't help as it's on private land.

    Mr Brown's house insurance company says he needs to go back to the authorities. He feels he is getting passed from pillar to post.

    Mr Brown, 83, said: "It's very worrying that the movement from the hole has got nearer to the property.

    "My concern is the corner of the building could give way and then we are in major, major trouble."

    He said the work is likely to cost £30,000 if no-one takes responsibility.

    A man has been arrested for dangerous driving after a pedestrian was hit by a car in Leicester yesterday afternoon.

    Police were called to the crash in Rearsby Road, Belgrave shortly before 16:00.

    A spokeswoman said the pedestrian was taken to Nottingham's QMC with "non-life threatening injuries".

    Catherine Street was closed between the junctions of Sutton Avenue and Watson Road after the accident but has since reopened.

    Leicestershire Police said the 32-year-old man who had been arrested has since been released under investigation.

    There are calls for CCTV to be installed in a park in Sandiacre after a spate of attacks by young people in Springfield Park.

    The campaign was started by 17-year-old Holly Wilds whose friend was attacked at a nearby bus stop in February.

    "I definitely think the problem has got worse," she said.

    "It's definitely become more violent. I see it becoming life-threatening."

    At a meeting attended by more than 50 people last night, Andy Marriott said his 23-year-old son was attacked by a gang in the park last week and hit on the head with a pole.

    Local councillors, PCSOs and the police and crime commissioner Hardyal Dhindsa told residents to report any anti-social behaviour and the parish council said it was already considering CCTV in the area.

    A worshipper has been seriously injured in a hit-a-run outside a mosque in Leicester as he left prayers early this morning.

    Police said the man, in his 40s, had left the Masjid At-Taqwa mosque in Humberstone Road at about 01:00 BST when he was struck.

    Leicestershire Police said they were still trying to track down the car and they reopened the road shortly before 07:15.

    The force said it was not treating the crash as terror-related.

    In a statement on Facebook, the mosque said the man was "fighting for his life" and asked people to pray for him to have "a full and speedy recovery".
