A plumbing and heating company in Leicester has been fined £280,000 for carrying out unsafe gas work on a new housing development.
The work resulted in gas escaping and subsequent fires at two of the properties.
EGP Building Services Limited (EGP) was contracted to undertake gas work at the development in Warwickshire between August 2016 and May 2018.
An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found during this time, gas hob installations were undertaken by fitters who were not competent.
More than 60 properties were identified as being immediately dangerous and posed a serious fire and explosion risk to the occupants.
EGP pleaded guilty to breaching health and safety regulations. In addition to the fine, the company was ordered to pay £918 in costs.

Campaign group The Woodland Trust said more trees were needed to provide summer shade, reduce air pollution, improve water quality and manage flooding.
The government said it had made it "much easier" to apply for planting grants.
