Nadia Whittome is the new MP in Nottingham East, replacing Chris Leslie, who defected from Labour in February.
She could also gain the accolade of being the youngest MP in this Parliament, also known as baby of the House, at the tender age of 23.
Ms Whittome enjoyed a large majority, getting 25,735 votes or 64% of the vote.
Mr Leslie managed just 1,147 votes.
Coincidentally, Chris Leslie was also baby of the house when he was first elected as MP in Shipley, West Yorkshire in 1997 aged 24.

A third Conservative hold within a few minutes in Derbyshire - this time Heather Wheeler retaining the South Derbyshire seat she has held since 2010.

Dr Luke Evans is celebrating becoming the new Conservative MP in Bosworth with a glass of bubbly.
He received 36,056 votes to be elected with an increased majority of 26,278.
The GP has taken over from David Tredinnick who stepped down last month after being the MP since 1987.

There's been a big turnout in the Harborough constituency - 57,534 people cast their vote, that's 72% of potential voters.
It was a similar result in the Rutland and Melton constituency where 70.74% of voters braved the wet weather to visit the polling station.
In their neighbouring constituency, South Leicestershire, where there has also been a by-election, the turnout was 72%.
Lilian Greenwood has been re-elected as the MP for Nottingham South, with a decreased majority.

Just spoken to Conservative candidate Leigh Higgins in Chesterfield.
He says if he's successful he will move to the town. He is currently based in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire where he is a borough councillor.

Lillian Greenwood has retained Nottingham South for Labour but with a reduced majority.
Across the country many of her colleagues are having a torrid night. In her victory speech she admitted: "Labour must reflect and rebuild and offer a real alternative, and I intend to be part of that process."
