The three girls and a boy had become stuck on the steep side of an exit to the cave in the Staffordshire Peak District just before 17:00.

The rescue team said they had become cragfast, which is when you are stuck on a rock face or mountain and cannot ascend nor descend without danger.

  5. Council 'must learn lessons' from energy firm failingspublished at 10:05 British Summer Time 19 August 2020

    BBC Radio Nottingham

An action plan for the future of Robin Hood Energy is set to be published later today after Nottingham City Council - which owns the troubled company - was strongly criticised in a report.

The report found the not-for-profit energy firm had lost £34.4m despite large loans from the council and said the authority's determination for it to succeed led to "institutional blindness".

Council leader David Mellen previously admitted there were failings in its governance, and told councillors yesterday lessons must be learned.

"One of the things the audit asked us to do is to learn lessons," he said.

"You can't turn back the time but we can learn from what's gone wrong, what's gone right in the past.

"There are things we clearly need to learn from Robin Hood Energy and the original aims, but also the difficulties we've had and the failings there have been."

The council has a month to formally respond to the report's recommendations.

An intensive care nurse has appealed for help after two tyres were punctured on her car as she got some rest between two 12-hour shifts.

Georgia Pentz said she had parked her car on Cumberland Close in Ruddington, near her home, after work on 10 August and returned to find her tyres flat the next morning.

Georgia said she first thought someone had let the air out of the tyres but later realised they had been punctured.

"Having this to sort out whilst at work looking after those who require a lot of care made it a challenging day, to say the least.

"I just can't fathom why anyone would do this. It's completely pointless and is a needless disruption to the day," she said.

PCSO Kathryn Lucock of the Rushcliffe Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "This is an awful incident which has caused disruption and distress to one of our key workers during a very busy and long period of work caring for our most vulnerable.

"We would remind people that this is criminal damage and we will investigate reports of any such behaviour."

    BBC News

A couple from Nottinghamshire have both been given suspended prison sentences for running a prostitution operation in Lincoln.

Lincolnshire Police said Philip Godfrey, 47, and Lam Lai Man, 52, from The Banks in Bingham, used encrypted instant messaging apps to find women, "who were often not familiar with the country or language".

The force said the women would then be taken to a flat in Lincoln, where they "would remain for almost an entire week and see up to 12 customers for sex, each day".

    Lincoln Crown Court

The pair admitted two charges of controlling prostitution at Lincoln Crown Court at a previous hearing and were both given 18-month prison sentences, suspended for two years, on Monday.

Det Con Michael Simpson said: "Godfrey and Lam used technology to their advantage to create a sophisticated operation that was difficult to unpick.

"The investigation required modern thinking and modern investigative techniques to trace the suspects and bring them to justice."
