Two rare alpacas have been stolen from a paddock in Old Dalby, Leicestershire.
Owner Diane Dawson said five-year-olds Oli and Bryony were taken overnight between 16:30 on Wednesday and 08:30 on Thursday.
"It's absolutely devastating. They are like family to us," said Mrs Dawson.
"The two they have taken were bred by us so their mothers are still here."
She said the two alpacas are a rare breed of Suri and Huacaya alpacas and fears they may have been sold by someone trying to profit from them.
"Alpacas have become popular in the last few years and they often appear for sale online," she said.
"These are like celebrities in the village and a lot of people come to see them."
Leicestershire Police, which is investigating, has asked anyone who has information about the thefts to get in touch.
Charlotte Kingsbury, from Nottinghamshire, had fertility treatment before finally giving birth.

A family had their stolen antique musical instruments returned after spotting them on an auction website.
Mike Gleaden, 61, from Retford, Nottinghamshire, was left devastated after the high-value instruments were taken from his late mother's home in Ordsall Road between 22 and 24 July.
She had died from coronavirus only a few months before.
Mr Gleaden discovered a flute and piccolo made by Rudall Carte & Co with matching serial numbers were being auctioned online in North Yorkshire.
He said: "We're all obviously delighted to have the instruments back. It was a huge relief to have them back in our hands and back where they belong.
"I think if I hadn't organised a number of alerts and notifications to let me know when a piccolo and flute matching the description were going on sale, we'd never have seen them again.
"My brother will now look after them, as he was due to inherit them before they were stolen."
Police said a number of items - including a cigarette case and an inscribed silver tankard - are still missing and appealed for witnesses.

A shop worker was left "traumatised" after a man jumped over the counter and knocked over a coronavirus protection screen during a robbery in Newark.
Police said the man demanded money from the startled 61-year-old and then opened the till himself, only to find it had already been emptied.
He then stole cigarettes and tobacco before leaving the store.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the raid at the One Stop store in Bowbridge Road, which happened at about 22:00 on Thursday.
Det Sgt Ricky Ellis said: "The female shop worker has been left very shaken and traumatised following the incident. It must have been an incredibly frightening experience."

Six people were each fined £200 when police brought an illegal house party to an end in Mansfield.
The penalties were handed out in Birkland Street shortly before 20:00 on Saturday after the group flouted lockdown rules banning people from different households meeting indoors.
Nottinghamshire's assistant chief constable Kate Meynell said: "The message doesn't appear to be getting through to everybody."
It's going to be a murky day with plenty of cloud, hill fog and mist.
There will be some showers, which will be at their most frequent and heaviest this afternoon.
