Ms Bulmer, 32, was also present at the fly-tip and, as the owner of the van, was legally responsible for the offence.

After initially denying the charge, she admitted the offence on the day of the hearing at Nottingham Magistrates' Court.

She was fined £432 with a further £343 awarded in costs.

Julie Leigh, Bassetlaw District Council's cabinet member for neighbourhoods said: "These people don't care about the environment, the mess they make or even the fact it's illegal.

"They are just in it for the cash. With just under £800 to pay in fines and costs I hope they re-evaluate their career choice."

    BBC News

More than 100 trees are to be chopped down at Western Park in Leicester after being attacked by a trio of terminal diseases.

Leicester City Council said ash dieback had been identified in several ash trees along with phytophthora, which attacks roots, and red band needle blight, a fungus that affects pine trees.

The authority said felling the trees was the only option to stop the highly infectious diseases spreading to more trees.

Work will begin at the end of the summer with replacement trees planted in the autumn.

Deputy city mayor Adam Clarke said: “The rapid acceleration of these three diseases is really concerning, with these deadly pathogens appearing to thrive as a result of climate change.

"But I hope that by taking this action we can protect not only the other trees that line the avenue and the 10,000 plus trees that we have in Western Park, but also limit the spread of these terminal diseases.”

    East Midlands Today

A woman who has been waiting 17 months for two knee replacement surgeries has been told she faces more delays.

Gillian Lloyd, 78, from Normanton on Soar, says she is in "horrendous" pain with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis and has been waiting for surgery since January 2020 .

She said she asked City Hospital in Nottingham about it four weeks ago and was told she would be waiting another four to six months.

It comes as figures show the number of people waiting for hospital treatment in England has topped five million for the first time.

    Gillian Lloyd

Ms Lloyd said she was "frustrated" as "she can't do anything" and struggles with cooking, housework, bathing. She described the pain as "12 out of 10".

"I don’t leave the house. My left knee now keeps giving way, which scares me because I had five falls last year," she said.

"I understand that there are more urgent cases but I think I have waited long enough."

    Gillian Lloyd

A spokesman for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, said: "We know what an anxious and difficult time it has been for all of our patients who have been waiting longer than normal for an appointment or procedure, as a result of the pressures placed on hospitals by the pandemic."

He added they have been allocated £10m to help reduce the backlog, with initiatives including additional operating lists at weekends and increased use of the independent sector.

"We also now have all of our theatres up and running, which wasn’t possible during the height of the pandemic, which will mean more patients getting their surgery over the coming months."
