More than £4,000 has been donated to help repair decking at a nature reserve near Chesterfield after it was damaged in a suspected arson attack over the weekend.
Derbyshire Wildlife Trust said 40m of boardwalk, fishing platforms and fencing were destroyed in the fire at The Avenue Nature Reserve and Washlands at about 21:00 on Saturday.
Wingerworth's local policing team called the fire "mindless vandalism".
"It appears that the composite decking by the pond has been set on fire, not only endangering the wildlife, but ruining the area for the people that walk their dogs and others that want to sit and enjoy the scenery," the team said.
Local councillor Ross Shipman said he felt "disappointed and gutted" by what had happened and said those involved should feel "absolutely ashamed".
An online fundraising appeal has been set up by a volunteer for the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust with the aim of raising £1,000 towards the repairs.
Stephanie Duffy said it was "heartwarming" to have significantly exceeded that target but said "we have a little way to go", with the total repair bill estimated at £15,000.
Derbyshire Police said no-one had been arrested but investigations were continuing.
