    A watchdog says an illegal immigrant detention centre in Lincolnshire is facing a growing drugs problem.

    Independent Monitoring Board (IMB) inspectors say they've found evidence an increasing number of detainees at Morton Hall, near Swinderby, are taking and dealing in illegal highs, amphetamines and occasionally heroin.

    Their report also found some detainees with organised crime contacts. 

    The Home Office says an action plan to deal with the IMB's recommendations has been put in place.

    A Lincolnshire man says he's devastated after being refused entry into the US because his passport was "too old".

    Vic Ryan took to Facebook to warn other Brits they might not be allowed to travel because their passports are not digital.

    From 1 April, all travellers to the US must have a biometric passport or they won't be allowed in the country.  

    His story has now gone viral, with thousands of people sharing his post.

    Within the last few minutes, it's been confirmed that the battle to become Lincolnshire's new Police and Crime Commissioner will be between Conservative Marc Jones and UKIP's Victoria Ayling.

    Neither gained the required 50% of the vote to win outright.

    Labour's Lucinda Preston and Lincolnshire Independent Daniel Simpson have both been knocked out.

    Labour's Lucinda Preston has topped the polls in the Lincoln area for the role of Police and Crime Commissioner. She received 7,914 votes.

    In the North Kesteven area, it was Conservative candidate Marc Jones who topped the polls with 6,238.

  6. Teenagers arrested after Scunthorpe primary school break-inpublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 6 May 2016

    Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with a break-in at a primary school in Scunthorpe, external.

    Police were called to the new Crosby Primary School site in Chatterton Crescent at about 01:50 this morning.

    Two 17-year-olds were later arrested in connection. Both remain in custody.

  10. Lincolnshire PCC turn out 'disappointing' says candidatepublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 6 May 2016

    Labour candidate Lucinda Preston says the role of Police and Crime Commissioner needs to be better explained to the public.

    Turnout for the elections is just over 21% across the county - compared to just 15% in 2012.

    But the assistant headteacher has told me she's still disappointed by the figures.

    She says: "We tried to leaflet and canvas to as many people as possible, but Lincolnshire is a large county.

    "It is disappointing in terms of turnout, but this is the electoral system that we have and I'm pleased it's higher than last time."

    Results are due later this afternoon.

    Police are appealing for witnesses after a Skegness schoolgirl was approached by a man asking for money, external.

    It happened at about 16:00 on Wednesday as the 16-year-old walked through an alleyway in St Clements churchyard.

    The man is described as white, 5ft 6ins tall, wearing a black hoody, black scarf, dark jeans and dark trainers.   

    Anyone with information is being asked to contact police on 101.

    Life's a beach for volunteers at Gainsborough Trinity's Northolme stadium at the moment.

    It's because they've removed the turf to put in a new high-tech irrigation system at the ground.

    It means their long serving groundsman can stop his 04:00 starts and water the pitch using his mobile phone!

    A man has suffered serious injuries in a collision in Donington.

    The collision happened in Bicker Road at about 16:40 yesterday and involved an Astra van, a Renault van and a Ford Mondeo.

    The driver of the Astra, a 43 year-old local man, was flown to the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

    The driver of the Renault, a 21-year-old local man, and the driver of the Mondeo, a 31-year-old man from Billingborough, were treated for less serious injuries.

    Anyone who witnessed the collision is being asked to call 101.

    A cake maker and Leicester City fan says she can't believe she's been picked to create Leicester City's celebration centre piece.

    Nicola Jones, of Yum Yum Tummy Rumble, originally from Leicester, is now working on the four-tier, three-flavoured cake which will be eaten at the team's last home game.

    The team was crowned Premier League champions on Monday after they were 5,000-to-one long shots to win at the start of the season.

    Their success has been labelled one of the greatest stories in football history.

  20. Improved turnout in Police and Crime Commissioner electionspublished at 09:41 British Summer Time 6 May 2016

    Early indications suggest there's been an improved turn out at this year's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) elections.

    PCC turnout numbers so far indicate a 29% turnout in Lincoln, 20% in West Lindsey and 19% in Boston.

    Turnout figures for the four other areas are yet to come in. 

    Counting around the county starts at about 10:30. The result is expected at about 15:00.
