  2. Workers at Grimsby fish factory 'pressurised' into accepting pay changespublished at 09:09 British Summer Time 6 May 2016

    Hundreds of workers at a Grimsby fish factory are being pressurised into accepting changes to terms and conditions or face the sack, according to union leaders.

    Unite has accused Icelandic Seachill of slashing overtime rates to offset the cost of the new compulsory living wage.

    Workers at the Laforey Road site have until today to decide whether to accept the proposals. 

    The company says most employees will be better off and changes are designed to make it more efficient.

    Kenny Davis' second-half penalty gave Braintree a slender advantage from their National League play-off semi-final first leg at Grimsby.

    After a first half of few chances, Josh Gowling was adjudged to have brought down Simeon Akinola in the box and Iron captain Davis slotted in from the spot.

    Mariners forward Padraig Amond was then denied from close range by both keeper Tom King and defender Matt Fry.

    The Iron held on to take a lead into Sunday's second leg at Cressing Road.

  4. Labour maintains control of City of Lincoln Councilpublished at 08:38 British Summer Time 6 May 2016

    Labour has maintained control of City of Lincoln Council, despite some predicting the party could suffer losses.

    Council leader Ric Metcalfe, who was re-elected in the Glebe Ward, said local voters were not swayed by what was happening in Westminster.

    Labour maintained control in Lincoln, winning 27 of 33 seats

    He said people in Lincoln were more interested in local issues.

    The Conservatives had hoped to gain 10 seats, but finished the night where they started, with six.
