    It took just 141 days for Fosters of Lincoln to turn rough blueprints into a fully constructed battle machine. 

    Eventually individual tanks would be named by their crews. 

    Like ships many of them were given female names: for example, the tank in the Museum of Lincolnshire Life pictured below is called Daphne.
