Today's events commemorate the incredible story of a small agricultural engineering company in Lincoln which went on to create what many consider the greatest fighting machine invented - the tank.

Fosters, which had manufactured threshing machinery for farms, won a contract in 1915 to design machines to cross trenches on the frontline of the war in France.

    Actors and children dress rehearsing

A huge outdoor spectacular to mark the 100th anniversary of Lincoln's first World War One tanks in the centre of Lincoln.

The city is where the very first tanks were designed and created, changing the outcome of the war.

The day will culminate in a major outdoor arts performanc, externale at Lincoln Castle, external as the sun sets - bringing the community together to remember the story of Lincoln 100 years ago as women and men from across Lincolnshire work tirelessly to build the top secret ‘Water Tank for Mesopotamia’- eventually shortened to tank.
