Opening in 2018, the IBCC honours the wartime bravery of the men and women of Bomber Command.

The charity says its income was cut by 90% during lockdown, which has cast doubt over the future viability of the centre.

It's now started a crowdfunding campaign.

    Quote Message

Lockdown has affected so many areas of our lives and, of course, many charities, including ourselves have lost substantial income. We are appealing to all our ardent supporters in both Lincolnshire, the UK and globally, to help ensure the story of the brave and often heroic members of Bomber Command are not lost but are heard, through the IBCC, for many years to come."

The Dog and Bone on John Street has been voluntarily closed by Batemans Brewery with immediate effect, according to Lincolnshire Police.

Police say over the past month officers and Lincoln City Council's Licensing Department had been contacted by local residents concerned at how the pub was being operated.

There were reports of serving after hours, people drinking in the street, excessive noise and no social distancing or other coronavirus measures being put in place, police say.

Attempts were made to implement changes to ensure the safe operation of the venue and Batemans worked alongside police to make improvement with their tenants.

    Quote Message

On the evening of 24 September 2020 myself and other officers attended the pub after 22:00 to find it was still open and people were seen inside drinking. The CCTV system was reviewed and the premises had failed to implement table service or ensure customers were wearing facemasks when moving around the premises."

Sgt Kimble Enderby, Alcohol Licensing Manager, Lincolnshire Police

Sgt Enderby added that Batemans Brewery was "as shocked as my team to discover the pub being operated with such a blatant disregard for public health.

"They made the decision to immediately close the pub and remove the current management team," he added.

Twenty year old Quinn Paczesny (pictured right, with friends), who's studying at Lincoln's Bishop Grosseteste University, travelled to Italy to teach English over the summer.

He's already had six positive tests and has been ordered to stay inside a Covid facility with two friends until he has two negative tests.

A spokesman for the Foreign Office said assistance is being provided.

    Quote Message

We were told by a few healthcare professionals both in Italy and the UK, and people that have kindly reached out to us through social media, that are doctors, that it's probably a false positive - that they're picking up the dead cells of Covid - but it's sort of bizarre really."

  11. 'Explosion' of noise complaints in Boston during lockdownpublished at 10:59 British Summer Time 25 September 2020

Complaints about noisy neighbours and parties increased in Boston during the coronavirus lockdown - and went up even more when restrictions started being eased, it's been revealed.

    Boston Borough CouncilImage source, Google

The borough council's environmental health team says it has been busier than ever since March when the lockdown got under way.

As well as dealing with nuisance complaints, officers are also making sure businesses in the borough are following Covid-19 safety rules and fulfilling track and trace requirements.

Tony Grey, Environmental Health Manager at Boston Borough Council, says he hopes things will be different now restrictions are once again being tightened:

    Quote Message

When we were all locked down, people tended to make their own entertainment so it was almost inevitable there was an explosion of noise and nuisance complaints. I would like to think that now we're six months in, there's more understanding about how we all have to moderate our behaviour."

They suspect people bought pets on a whim during lockdown and now realise they don't have time to look after them.

Volunteers at Three Counties Dog Rescue in Bourne are urging people to think twice before taking on a pet.

Gyll Mauchline, who runs the centre, said: "We can't say we're living in normal times, but because people are getting back into a routine of possibly going to work and going out and about more, then people who got pets during lockdown have decided they can't keep animals for one reason or another."
