    Gainsborough stays blue this morning as Sir Edward Leigh retains the seat for the Conservatives.

    He got 31,790 votes with Labour's Catherine Tite second with 14,767 votes.

    Despite getting more than 60% of the vote he said:

    "You can't take people for granted and that's why I've worked it as hard as I can. If you take people for granted you will gradually get your vote whittled away which has not happened here yet."

    Matt Warman retained the Boston & Skegness seat for the Conservatives and increased his share of the vote by more than 60%.

    The UKIP leader Paul Nuttall was beaten into third place with Labour's Paul Kenny second.

    Mr Warman said 'I think we saw a very clear and total collapse in the UKIP vote here... I think it's a lazy assumption to assume that a constituency that backed leaving the EU would necessarily vote for a single issue pressure group."

    Lincoln is waking up to the news the city has a new MP this morning.

    After seven years the Conservative's Karl McCartney has lost the seat to Labour's Karen Lee.

    She clinched it by more than 1,500 votes.

    Karen Lee said "I'm very proud to have been chosen to represent the city I was born in and lived in all my life... I'm looking forward to representing students, long terms residents and everyone in the constituency."
