    Peter Rothwell won the Eagle, Swinderby and Witham St Hugh's ward with 57% of the vote.

    The by-election was called following the death of a long-standing independent councillor.

    Barbara Wells died last year at the age of 83.

    Police say there's no threat to the local community following the arrest of a 46-year-old man who's being held on suspicion of being a member of a banned neo-Nazi group.

    Counter Terrorism officers raided an address in Lincoln earlier this morning, as part of an operation led by Greater Manchester Police.

    The man remains in custody.

    There are plans to spend an extra £9m on fixing potholes and road repairs in Lincolnshire.

    The County Council says it will dip into its reserves to help improve the state of the roads, with the rest of the money coming from business rates and government grants.

    Lincolnshire has about 5,500 miles of roads to maintain.

    North East Lincolnshire Council's budget plans were thrown into disarray last night.

    The proposal, including an increase to council tax of almost 5%, was rejected by opposition Tory councillors.

    They've been been criticised by some Labour councillors who've accused them of having no alternative to their budget proposals.

    The budget will have to be looked at again at another meeting next week.

    The number of people in Yorkshire and the Humber with mental health problems who use Citizens Advice reached 10,000 last year, the service says.

    Their research has also found that mental health workers are spending more time on non-health related issues such as debt or housing.

    Some debt groups want people with mental health problems to be given breathing space when it comes to debts.

    Police have now confirmed that counter terrorism officers have raided an address in Lincoln this morning.

    They arrested a 46-year-old man on suspicion of membership of the banned far-right group National Action.

    Officers say the arrest forms part of a wider operation.

    The man is in custody and will be questioned by specialist officers.

    Counter terrorism officers say that inquiries are "ongoing".

    Counter terrorism officers have arrested a man in Lincolnshire on suspicion of being a member of a proscribed organisation.

    The 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being a member of a banned organisation and of malicious communications.

    Counter terrorism officers have not revealed where the man lived in the county.

    He is in custody and being questioned by specialist officers.

    The company that makes ejector seats for the RAF is due to be sentenced by a court today following the death of a Red Arrows pilot.

    Flt Lt Sean Cunningham, aged 35, died in 2011 when an ejector seat activated during pre-flight checks at RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire.

    The government is considering a new law making so-called "upskirting" a criminal offence, according to Louth and Horncastle MP and Minister for Women Victoria Atkins.

    Upskirting is the act of secretly photographing underneath a skirt, but at the moment police say it's often difficult to investigate and prosecute those responsible.

    Lincolnshire's Police and Crime Commissioner is among those backing calls for it to be made a crime in its own right.

    Labour MP Karen Lee speaks about how her daughter Lynsey died in 2011 from breast cancer at the age of 35 - when her children were two, four and seven.

    Lindsay had chemotherapy, radiotherapy and a mastectomy. She survived for 13 months after being diagnosed with cancer.

    Karen Lee is an ambassador for the charity Breast Cancer Now, which stresses the important role played by a clinical nurse specialist (CNS).

    "We know that access to a CNS can make a big difference to the way people with cancer experience their care, providing people with support, and helping them manage their systems.

    "This is especially important for people with incurable - like my Lindsay - secondary breast cancer who have particularly complex needs."

    She says the aspiration of Breast Cancer Now is that, by 2050, everyone with breast cancer will live.

    "As parliamentarians we've got the power to influence this and change it," Mrs Lee says.

    Four cars and several recycling bins on a Grimsby estate were deliberately set on fire during the early hours of this morning.

    The fires took place on the East Marsh estate between 12:55 and 01:30.

    Three parked cars were damaged on Bedford Street and another one on Victor Street (pictured), along with recycling bins nearby Garibaldi Street.

    The vehicles, a black Kia Carens, a blue Kia Picanto, a black Nissan Qashqai and a white Ford Fiesta, suffered varying degrees of damage before the fires were extinguished.

    Humberside Police are keen to speak to a woman with blonde hair who was seen in the area at the time.

    A student studying in Leeds who was caught up in the Manchester Arena bomb attack is to run a half marathon to raise money for the victims.

    Bridie O’Hare was in the arena on the night of the attack on 22 May last year - 22 people died and 116 were injured after the suicide bombing.

    The 19-year-old from Cleethorpes studies history at Leeds Beckett University and will run the Sheffield Half Marathon in April.

    GPs in our region are under such pressure it's likely a quarter of them have felt unwell in the past year due to stress, it's claimed.

    The claim comes from the co-author of a new textbook advising GPs how to deal with their workload.

    Author Dr Euan Lawson is warning that we are facing a continuing GP shortage.

    He says more than half of GPs want to leave the profession and there are few medical students who want to train up as family doctors.

    East Yorkshire GP Dr Zoe Norris told the BBC that GPs face pressures every day.
