    Valuable jewellery has been stolen during a break-in in Scunthorpe, police say.

    Humberside Police say a wedding ring and expensive watch (pictured) were among the high value items taken during the burglary at a house on Cliff Gardens.

    Officers say it happened at some point over the bank holiday weekend and are asking anyone with information to come forward.

    People concerned about the potential closure of children's services at Boston's Pilgrim hospital are due to meet later to discuss the situation.

    Health bosses say a shortage of doctors could force the children's ward to shut, but they add that any closure would be temporary.

    Local MPs, councillors and health bosses are expected to attend the meeting at Boston Grammar School this evening between 19:00 and 21:00.

    Skegness is in the top 20% of most deprived areas in the UK.

    The Salvation Army's shelter in the town, which has 50 beds for those in need, says it's seeing people from all backgrounds now seeking help.

    Three children have been arrested in connection with a fire in Grimsby.

    Humberside Police said the fire, which broke out on Castle Street on Monday 30 April, may have been started deliberately.

    The children have been questioned and released under investigation, the force said.

    Painstaking restoration work at Lincoln Cathedral has revealed specks of 12th century paint on the West Front.

    The Lincoln Cathedral works department is undertaking conservation and repair work on the West Front, which is expected to be finished in 2023.

    The specks of paint were found on panels, depicting scenes from the Old Testament, carved in the early 12th century.

    The leaders of four regional councils looking to form a combined authority have issued more details about their plans.

    Combined authorities effectively act as a 'super-council', working across county borders.

    In a joint statement, the county council leaders of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire said: "We believe that we can achieve much more if we work together, particularly in the areas of connectivity, trade, investment and growth."

    The leaders said government funding for the region would remain low unless they join forces.

    They will conduct further talks over the coming months.

    A man from Spalding who believes he bought a rare photo of the American outlaw Jesse James on eBay has disputed claims that it is a fake.

    Justin Whiting bought the photo (below) for £7, then two experts told him it was genuine and was worth millions.

    But another expert has claimed that the man in the photo is not the famous train robber.

    Mr Whiting says he's prepared to have the picture verified once more.

    He is now looking for an independent forensic expert in the UK to examine the photograph.

    A £6m fire and ambulance station, which will also act as a base for some council staff, has opened in Sleaford.

    Sand is being pumped from the seabed to try and protect the Lincolnshire coast from flooding.

    Huge machines are being used to dredge sand from the seabed to increase beach levels.

    The £7m operation will protect more than 20,000 homes and businesses, the Environment Agency said.

    The work will take around eight weeks to complete.
