    Police, external have found an 86-year-old woman who went missing from south London.

    Sheila Poupard is being treated at a south London hospital, officers said.

  2. Cult leader 'threatened daughter with death'published at 10:53

    The leader of a communist cult threatened his daughter with death after she said she had a crush on former mayor of London Ken Livingstone, a court has heard.

    Aravindan Balakrishnan, 75, convinced his cult he was god-like and could read their minds, prosecutor Rosina Cottage QC told the court.

    Mr Balakrishnan, of Enfield, north London, denies charges including four counts of rape and seven of indecent assault.

  3. Suspected arson leaves woman in critical conditionpublished at 10:38

    A suspected arson attack at a residential care home in east London has left a 43-year-old woman in a critical condition. 

    Police, external were called by London Ambulance Service to Beccles Drive, Barking, at about 01:00 after reports of a fire.

    A woman was taken to hospital where she remains in a critical condition. Officers are treating the fire as suspicious.

  5. Appeal for help finding missing 86-year-oldpublished at 10:01

    Officers, external are appealing for help in finding a missing 86-year-old woman from south London.

    Sheila Poupard was last seen at 11:00 yesterday at Bingham Road, in Croydon, and was last spoken to on the phone at 16.00.

    Ms Poupard is known to frequent the Addiscombe Tram Stop, London Rail Routes and the National Theatre.

    A man has been accused of murdering a teenager who suffered fatal stab wounds during a friend's 16th birthday party.

    Calvin Tudor, 21, is accused of killing Che Labastide-Wellington (pictured), 17, in Kenton, north-west London.

    Che, of Harrow, was knifed in the chest in an alley close to where the party was taking place, in Belvedere Way, in the early hours of Sunday.

    Mr Tudor, of Kelly Close, Neasden, north-west London, is due before Barkingside Magistrates' Court later.

    The London Underground had its busiest ever day on 9 October, when 4.735 million people used the network.

    The previous record was reached on Friday 28 November 2014, when 4.734 million passengers travelled on the Tube.

    The last week of October was the busiest ever week, with 28.614 million customer journeys, Transport for London, external said.

  8. Kids Company was 'special case' to ministers, say MPspublished at 09:30

    Vulnerable children across the UK are likely to have lost out amid ministers' for failed London charity Kids Company, MPs have said.

    The Public Accounts Committee said it was "staggering" government gave KidsCo more than £40m over 13 years with "no idea" what it was getting for that.

    Kids Company collapsed in August amid claims of financial mismanagement - something its former bosses deny.

    Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to be greeted by tens of thousands of fans at London's Wembley stadium on the second day of his visit to the UK.

    Britain and India have announced a series of trade deals worth around $15bn (£10bn) but Mr Modi's visit has also attracted criticism.

    Protests have been held by people angry at a perceived rise in intolerance and Hindu nationalism in India. Justin Rowlatt reports.
