    Showers will push eastwards through the first part of the night, clearing to leave patchy cloud and clear spells.

  3. Teen murdered at Woodford birthday party namedpublished at 17:56

    A 16-year-old boy murdered in Woodford on Saturday has been named by police as Munashe Charles Kutyauripo.

    The teenager, known as Charlie, was stabbed at about 21:40 at Ashton Playing Fields during a confrontation at a birthday party.

    Police, external believe he had gone to a girl's 16th birthday party at a nearby social club when a confrontation started between him and four boys.

    Det Ch Insp Mark Lawson said the Met are "really keen to speak to everyone who was at the party that night".

  4. 'Potentially violent' absconder on run in east Londonpublished at 17:54

    A "potentially violent and dangerous" man has gone on the run after fleeing during supervised leave from a mental health unit.

    Safdar Shah ran off from a post office in Homerton High Street, east London, at around 11.30 yesterday and police say, external he will become increasingly dangerous to the public without vital medication.

    The 35-year-old, who has paranoid schizophrenia, has his passport with him and it is feared he may try to flee the country.

  6. Bexleyheath line to reopen on Thursdaypublished at 17:35

    Network Rail says it plans to reopen the railway line through Barnehurst on Thursday after a landslide stopped all trains.

    More than 200 tonnes of trees, soil and debris fell onto the track on Monday night, blocking the line.

    Rail users are advised to check National Rail Enquiries, external when making journeys through the area.

  9. Actress' partner appears in Ghana courtpublished at 17:20

    The partner of former EastEnders actress Sian Blake was surrounded by journalists and photographers as he arrived at Kaneshie Magistrates' Court in Accra.

    Arthur Simpson-Kent was remanded in custody for two weeks and told he would face an extradition hearing to the UK.

    The bodies of Ms Blake and her two children were discovered buried in the garden at the family home in Erith.

    Helen Winter was accused of setting "a deplorable example to clients" by taking a Class A illegal drug with two Kids Company clients.

    Panel Chair Penny Griffith said her actions had "damaged public confidence in the profession of practitioner psychologists and brought the profession into disrepute."

    However, Ms Griffith said Dr Winter had "expressed remorse" and the panel had "concluded that the prospects of repetition were low".

    A Kids Company psychologist has been suspended after she was found to have given illegal drugs to a vulnerable youngster she met through the charity.

    Helen Winter admitted taking MDMA, the active ingredient in ecstasy, and being under its influence with two clients of the charity at a nightclub in south London in January 2014.

    She was given an interim 18-month suspension by an employment tribunal and will find out on 10 February whether or not she will be struck off.

    The first children with debilitating "mystery" diseases have been given a diagnosis at London's Great Ormond Street Hospital as part of a huge scheme to analyse people's DNA.

    Four-year-old Georgia Walburn-Green's damaged eyes and kidneys and her inability to talk had baffled doctors.

    She is one of the first to have her precise genetic abnormality identified through the 100,000 Genomes Project, external.

    Her parents said the day Georgia was finally diagnosed was one of the biggest of their lives.

  13. Murder victim 'refused to hand over computer'published at 16:33

    A young man was stabbed to death after three teenagers tried to rob him of a computer they had spotted for sale on Gumtree, a court heard.

    Michael Adegbite, 28, had refused to hand over the Apple MacBook and was fatally knifed in the chest after pursing the robbers in Enfield, north London, on the evening of 19 July, jurors were told.

    Montel Ajayi, 19, Christopher Nzeh, 18, and Isaac Owen-Brady, 18, are on trial at the Old Bailey and deny murder.

    Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2021.

    The 19-year-old has impressed fans since joining the club from MK Dons, scoring six goals in 30 appearances so far this season.

    Southeastern has been explaining more about how "bright sunlight" caused severe delays on their trains around Lewisham this morning:

    "Glare this morning made it impossible for some drivers to see the full length of their train in their mirrors before leaving stations.

    "When this happens they have to get out and check to ensure everybody has got on or off their train safely before they can move. 

    "This can take a little more time but thankfully for all it doesn’t happen very often."

    The disruption will affect all passengers travelling to and from places such as Welling, Eltham, Kidbrooke and Blackheath.

  19. Man falls 30 feet inside lift in the City of Londonpublished at 15:00

    London Fire Brigade say they had to rescue a man from a lift that dropped 30 feet (9.1m) inside a building in Austin Friars, EC2, yesterday.

    The lift fell from the fifth floor to the second. The man was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews.
