    A 102-stone naked sculpture of British artist Antony Gormley has been suspended from the ceiling at the National Portrait Gallery. 

    The life-size figure was cast from the Angel of the North sculptor's own body and it is the first time it will be shown in Britain. 

    Gormley, who is famed for his large-scale artworks focusing on the human figure, attended the installation of the work, titled Object, 1999, today.

    Visitors to the Ondaatje Wing main hall at the gallery in London will be greeted by the cast-iron sculpture hanging in the air.

    London has beaten New York, Paris and Singapore to be crowned the world's city of opportunity for the second year in a row.

    PwC's Cities of Opportunity Index, external revealed London scored top marks due to its economic importance, reputation as a city gateway, ease of doing business, innovation and culture and had a 6.5% advantage over its closest rival Singapore.

    But it was found to be the most expensive city for cost of living and business occupancy and PwC warned it was too early to say how Brexit could impact the capital.

    Mayor of London, external, Sadiq Khan, said: "This is the best city in the world; it's open for business, creative, entrepreneurial, agile, full of opportunity and a hub for business and leisure travel. 

    "Despite the recent vote to leave the European Union, there is no doubt that this will continue to be the best place in the world to do business."

    Conservatives on the Greater London Authority have poured scorn on mayor Sadiq Khan's decision to review the closure of London Underground ticket offices.

    Transport spokesman Keith Prince said: "This review of Tube ticket office closures is an expensive bit of political theatrics to appease the mayor's transport union associates.

    "The review will obviously result in the ticket offices staying closed for a multitude of good reasons. The closure of these ticket offices not only improved the visibility of staff but also saved £50m a year.

    "Another major issue with the reopening of them would be the unravelling all of the lucrative commercial work TfL has done behind the scenes to reuse the space."
