    Danny Shaw
    BBC Home Affairs Correspondent

The Ministry of Justice says the two prisoners who escaped from Pentonville were on remand - one for attempted murder and one for burglary.

It's thought the police will name them soon.

They were not required to work, so that's why they weren't reported missing until just before midday, though staff are expected to conduct a visual check on prisoners through the cell observation panel at around 07:00.

The two "mannequins" were in fact pillows made to look like bodies. It's not clear if the pillows had other objects or coverings on them.

After cutting through the bars on the cell window the two prisoners got onto a flat roof, and then scaled down it using a sheet, before climbing over the perimeter wall.
