1. Second victim of the Croydon Tram derailment named as Phil Searypublished at 12:02 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2016

    Phil Seary has been named as the second victim of the Croydon Tram derailment.

    In a statement his family said: "We as a family are in shock, completely heartbroken and utterly devastated.

    "We have lost a much loved wonderful son, faithful husband and a loving and doting father and grandfather.

    "Everyone that knew him he was a gentle giant with a heart to match. He was a devoted Crystal Palace fan and we'll known locally. 

    "He will be immensely missed by all that had the great fortune to know him."

  7. Suspect sought after string of sex assaults on north London busespublished at 10:31 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2016

    A photo has been released of a man police would like to speak to regarding a series of sex assaults on buses across Brent, Haringey and Enfield.

    The suspect was last seen in Park Royal in September and it is thought he could now be in Dublin.

    The first incident happened on 11 March on a route 341 bus where he "touched" a 34-year-old woman on her leg.

    The next alleged assault happened on 2 July at about 02:00 on a N18 bus when the suspect touched a 27-year-old woman as she nodded off.

    Other alleged incidents happened on  a 226 bus across Brent between 17 July and 21 September.

    He is described as being of Middle Eastern appearance, 30 to 35-years-old and about 5ft 7in.

    A woman has been charged with assisting an offender after an inmate who escaped from Pentonville prison was recaptured.

    Kelly Baker, 21, of Ilford, east London, will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Friday. 

    She was arrested on Wednesday night as Matthew Baker, 28, was apprehended after three days on the run. 

     He escaped from the north London jail alongside James Whitlock, 31, who is still being sought by police. 

     A 33-year-old man who was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail. Scotland Yard added that on Thursday officers arrested a second woman, aged 24, at an address in Bow, east London, on suspicion of assisting an offender. 

     She is currently in custody at an east London police station.

    As well as the traditional two minute silence to mark Armistice Day at the Croydon cenotaph, there will be an additional minute to remember the victims of Wednesday's accident.

    At 11:00 Prince Harry will lay a wreath at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire and lead the nation in silence to remember those who have died in conflict.

    A crane and a low-loader are standing by to lift and remove the tram that overturned in Croydon on Wednesday, killing seven people.

    It has emerged Transport for London received concerns in writing several months ago about a potential accident on the curve at Sandilands where the tram derailed.

    Police have confirmed six men and one woman died in the crash which also injured more than 50 people.  

    One victim of the crash has been named as 19-year-old Dane Chinnery, who was described as "a beautiful lad".

    Thameslink have a severely reduced service running this morning. The line between St Pancras and City Thameslink has reopened following overhead line problems that started on Tuesday.

    And following the derailment there is still no service on the trams from East Croydon to Addington Village, Harrington Road or Elmers End. A limited service is running on the rest of the network.
