  1. Tackle overcrowding on London's transport - Caroline Pidgeonpublished at 11:50 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2016

Liberal Democrat Assembly Member Caroline Pidgeon has called on the mayor to do more about overcrowding on the capital's transport system.

On the day Sadiq Khan confirmed he was freezing fares until 2020 on Transport for London's network, Ms Pidgeon said he could have done more to ease overcrowding.

“Sadiq Khan’s manifesto specifically said that Londoners won’t pay a penny more for their travel in 2020 than they do today.  There were no ifs, or buts, in that statement.”

"However much the Mayor attempts to spin the issue his announcement today confirms that many Londoners will see their travelcards and their PAYG caps on travelcards increase next year.

“Instead of boasting about his fare announcement the Mayor should now be concentrating on tackling the chronic problem of overcrowding.  Introducing half price travel for TfL rail journeys that start before 07:30 would help many low paid workers but also play a critical role in reducing overcrowding.”
