The posters, which have been seen in locations including Westminster and Waterloo, emerged after Labour adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition and examples of anti-Semitism following a drawn-out party row.

The IHRA says "claiming the existence of a state of Israel is a racist endeavour" is anti-Semitic.

  14. Crossrail-linked bus changes to be put on holdpublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 6 September 2018

    Oxford Street

Transport bosses have confirmed any future changes to central London bus routes linked to the opening of Crossrail will be put on hold until the service is operational.

Commissioner of Transport for London Mike Brown confirmed the decision while giving evidence at the London Assembly earlier.

Florence Eshalomi, Labour’s London Assembly Spokesperson for Transport, said she was "glad to receive these reassurances from TfL".

Nevertheless, Ms Eshalomi said she had "been informed that TfL’s upcoming consultation on bus routes unaffected by the opening of Crossrail will still be going ahead.

“So far, I am confident that the impact of these proposed changes will be relatively minimal and should help to balance demand for bus services between the inner and outer boroughs whilst helping to reduce congestion and air pollution on the busiest streets in the capital," she said.

The leader of Tower Hamlets council has urged anyone who stayed at the Bow hotel where two alleged Russian hitmen plotted the Salisbury Novichok attack to contact police.

Police announced that two Russians, using the names Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov, were the main suspects behind the poisoning of Sergei and Yulia Skripal in March.

The men, believed to be from Russia’s military intelligence service, the GRU, spent two nights at the City Stay Hotel, next to Bow DLR Station, before allegedly carrying out the attempted hit on the ex-spy and his daughter.

Mayor John Biggs said residents will be “appalled” that deadly Novichok was brought into the borough but tests had found the hotel was safe.

“We should be reassured that following tests, experts deemed that the room was safe and that it posed no risk to the public,” he said.

“People in the East End will be appalled that these dangerous chemicals were brought into our community.

“I want to thank the police for their continued efforts to keep our community safe.”

He added: “We will continue to work closely with them to support them in any way we can and I would urge anyone who stayed in the hotel between 4 March and 4 May 2018 to contact the investigation team.”
