Residents have spoken out about living in an “atmosphere of intimidation” with security guards and dogs guarding the Old Tidemill Wildlife Garden in Deptford day and night.
Security have remained at the site since last Monday when scores of bailiffs evicted campaigners who had occupied the garden for two months.
The garden is part of controversial plans between Lewisham Council and Peabody to demolish 16 homes at Reginald House and the Old Tidemill Wildlife Garden to make way for a 209-home development.
Of the development, 117 homes will be let at London affordable rent levels.
Reginald Road resident Ruby Radburn said security dogs barking and floodlights on at the garden at night are making it difficult to sleep.
She is opposed to the development but is not part of the Save Tidemill Save Reginald campaign.
She said there was an “atmosphere of intimidation” created from the security presence, which she said involved about 40 men, and that she had had “run-ins” with security after asking them to keep their voices down after midnight.
“It’s is not just that they are there, it is that they did the eviction and everyone witnessed that. It really did feel like an act of violence on the community,” she said.
Reginald House resident Diann Gerson, who was injured while she was a bystander during the eviction, said security often swore and argued with each other.
Ms Gerson is part of the Save Tidemill Save Reginald campaign said she found all the security "very disconcerting".
Cllr Joe Dromey said he was aware of residents’ concerns and had raised them with the Mayor Damien Egan, and the council’s chief executive.
"They, like me, are keen to ensure that local residents are treated with the respect that they deserve,” he said.
He added that: “London is facing a severe and growing housing crisis, and Lewisham has 2,000 homeless households. They deserve a home. The Tidemill site will provide 104 additional social homes, the largest increase in social housing in our borough in a generation."
County Enforcement, which provides the security staff, have been contacted for comment.
Former JLS member Oritse Williams has denied raping a woman in a hotel room after a concert.
The 31-year-old was arrested in December 2016 in connection with an incident in a hotel in Wolverhampton.
Mr Williams, from Croydon, south London, appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court earlier to deny the charge.
During a 36-minute hearing, co-defendant Jamien Nagadhana, 31, from Hounslow, London, denied a serious sexual assault charge in connection with the same incident.
A trial date was set for 14 May.
Here at BBC Towers we know all about night shifts but we are not alone: new research finds one in three London workers are on the job at evenings and nights.
About 1.6 million Londoners now work later in the day in sectors including leisure, culture and health, research for City Hall suggests.
However, more than half a million night workers are paid below the voluntary London Living Wage, the study indicated.
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: "We need employers to step up and ensure the welfare of their employees by paying them the London living wage. Every Londoner is entitled to a to a decent standard of living - no matter what time of day or night they work."
A man is recovering in hospital after being stabbed in Bush Hill Park, Enfield, late last night.
Paramedics and police officers were called to Third Avenue at about 23:00 GMT where they found the victim, aged in his 20s, suffering from stab wounds.
He was treated at the scene and taken to a north London hospital.
One man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of GBH; and another man was later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
The Mey say both remain in custody and a crime scene is still in place around the Third Avenue area.

Nearly 2,000 people in London still watch TV in black and white more than half a century after colour broadcasts began.

This is followed by 431 in the West Midlands and 390 in Greater Manchester.
The Duke of Sussex will commemorate the Armistice at Westminster Abbey's Field of Remembrance on Thursday.
Prince Harry will visit the memorial and lay a cross of remembrance three days before the centenary of the end of the First World War.
It will be the sixth time that the duke has attended the event.
The Field of Remembrance has been held in the grounds of Westminster Abbey since 1928, and is organised by the Poppy Factory.
In its first year, only two tribute crosses were planted, but now around 70,000 are produced by the Poppy Factory each year, for planting on more than 360 plots at the Abbey.
Veterans, as well as members of the public, are invited to plant a cross in the Abbey grounds in memory of fallen comrades and loved ones.
At Thursday's ceremony, Prince Harry will honour a two minute silence, to be held after the Last Post, before meeting ex-service men and women from across the armed forces who have served in a number of conflicts.
A paraplegic athlete who dragged himself through the arrivals terminal at Luton Airport says he is dropping his legal action as the airport has "improved their disabled facilities".
Justin Levene's self-propelling wheelchair was left behind on a flight in the incident, last August.
The north Londoner was offered a rigid high-backed chair but refused, as he felt it removed his independence.
Luton Airport now says it has 10 self-propelled wheelchairs.

Read MoreSajid Javid has called on the Metropolitan Police to step up its response to knife crime following a fresh spate of stabbings across the capital.
The Home Secretary urged the force to make full use of police powers, including stop and search, as its officers seek to end the violence.
On Wednesday Mr Javid called Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick for an update on the recent series of knife-related deaths in London.
He acknowledged there is a national issue, while recognising the particular challenge in London.
The Home Secretary, who is currently in the US for talks with social media companies about their efforts to combat online child abuse, told the Commissioner: "Alongside tough law enforcement we will not let up on our work to prevent young people getting drawn into knife crime in the first place."
Mr Javid told the Commissioner he was "deeply worried" by the level of violent crime faced by officers on the streets and reiterated his commitment to focus on driving it down, the Home Office said.
Shadow home secretary Diane Abbott responded by saying: "Evidence based stop and search is an important tool in fighting crime but random stops poison police community relations."
There could be a small chance of a morning shower today, otherwise it looks set to be a dry and fine dau with periods of sunshine and just a few patches of cloud.
Tonight will be mostly dry with clear skies for a time. However, more cloud is likely to move in later, bringing the chance of the odd shower.
Temperatures could reach as high as 14C (57.2F).
