A stowaway cat that hitched a ride from Bangladesh to Heathrow in a suitcase full of mangos has found a new home in Basingstoke.

The cat – called Mango because she survived by eating the food on the trip over – was adopted by Sarah Lacey and Matt Bonner.

Mango was taken to Cats Protection's Ferndown Homing Centre in Wimborne after she was discovered, and a fundraising appeal helped pay for her care during her six months in quarantine.

Sarah said: "We were amazed when we learned how Mango came to be in the UK. She must have been so frightened – it’s a miracle she survived.
