    People in the North East are continuing to do their bit after the Manchester attack.

    A Tyneside taxi firm that offered to help out people who've been stranded in Manchester says it has been inundated with requests.

    Blueline Taxis, based in Wallsend, made the offer on social media and brought four people home yesterday.

    There are more to come today, and general manager Ben Bell said they're happy to help out.

    Sharon says for the friends, who are all 14, the concert was a "really big deal" because it was the first time they'd been allowed to go to the arena without adults.

    It took five minutes for Sharon and her daughter to reunite and they were talking on the phone the whole time.

    The Changing The Guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace has been cancelled on Wednesday to enable the redeployment police officers in the wake of the Manchester attack.

    The new guard, the RAF Queen's Colour Squadron, had been due to process to the Palace from Wellington Barracks to replace the old guard in the traditional ceremony later.

    The ceremony attracts hundreds of tourists, who watch outside the gates of the Queen's London home.

    A rail union has called off a planned strike on some train services in Yorkshire later next week, because of the terror attack in Manchester which killed 22 people.

    Rail, Maritime and Transport Union (RMT) members had planned a 24-hour walkout on Southern, Merseyrail and Northern (Arriva Rail North) on 30 May.

    The year-long dispute is over staffing and plans to introduce new driver-operated-only trains.

    The union's general secretary Mick Cash said: "Our thoughts and solidarity are with the people of Manchester."

    The company say services will now run as scheduled on this date.

    The Premier League club, who face Ajax in the Swedish capital, cancelled their pre-match news conference as a mark of respect.
