The aftermath of the flooding in the North of England is certainly being felt by residents in Poynton, Cheshire this morning.

"I have lived here for 54 years and I have never seen anything like this in my whole life. I can't believe it," she added.

"The community came together. There was a gentleman who came down in his tractor to drain all the grids away and release all the rubbish that was there."

Angela Feely, meanwhile, said it was scary "how quickly it all happened".

BBC reporter Phil McCann was at the scene last night and shared this footage of the flooding.

You are not allowed to live in a house that has been contaminated through 'black water' - it seeps in everywhere... the floorboards, everything. I saved as much as I could - photographs and stuff like that - but there's only a certain amount you can do.
