    People of Waverton in Cheshire were undeterred by the rainy weather and attended a royal garden party themed picnic at the village hall.

    The weather may not have always cracked out the flags but the people of Bury did.

    Chesham Fold estate held an English tea party which included a Royal quiz for adults and a colouring competition for the children.

    At Aintree Hospital in Merseyside, staff and patients enjoyed fancy dress and cake for their Jubilee celebrations.

    Healthcare assistant Joanne Hazell dressed up as the monarch to bring some smiles to the ward.

    The 41-year-old said everyone joined in and it was a "brilliant day".

    "To be able to do this for my patients and to see the joy on their faces was fantastic," she said.

    Fifty life-sized corgi sculptures are on display around Altrincham.

    The Queen is synonymous with the short-legged pooches and has owned more than 30 of the pets during her reign.

    The project, Trooping the Corgis, will be displayed in the windows and foyers of shops and businesses until 29 June.

    Residents of Mellor in Lancashire descended on the village hall for their Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

    As Platinum Jubilee celebrations continue, residents on a street in Leigh remember a party they shared 20 years ago for the Golden Jubilee.

    Reg Heaton, who captured the footage on his video camera, said there was "a great atmosphere" on Edna Street, with trestle tables set up and adorned with balloons and party food was brought from the houses to share.

    A mother who has campaigned tirelessly about the harmful effects of prescribed epilepsy drugs on unborn babies has become an MBE as part of the Jubilee honours.

    Janet Williams, who has epilepsy, was inspired to act after both her sons were born with disabilities.

    The 57-year-old from Pilling, Lancashire, took the drug Epilim while she was pregnant in 1989 and 1991.

    She said she was "shocked but really excited" after being honoured for services to people with disabilities.

    A life-size woollen Queen, complete with crown, sash, handbag and pet corgi, has been installed in a Cheshire village.

    The knitted monarch was put up in Holmes Chapel.

    It was created by Holmes Chapel Community Yarn Bombers, who began working on decorations in July 2021.

  14. 'My dad was the Queen's umbrella man on 1954 Bury visit'published at 16:30 British Summer Time 5 June 2022

    A man has recalled how his father was given a special role when the Queen opened Bury Town Hall in 1954.

    Bob Hargreaves said he was so proud his father Albert was the Queen's "umbrella man" and followed her wherever she was outside the building including when she waved at the crowds gathered on the balcony.

    The bunting is blowing in a blustery wind but thousands of people are still smiling here in Morecambe as they attempt to break the record of the biggest Jubilee street party in the world.

    Many have been tucking into their sandwiches and cake but a few hours ago that attempt looked to be in jeopardy as the heavens opened - but the rain has stopped and residents have started to take their seats again.

    They are using 300 tables over an extra 100m to try break the record and money from every ticket sold goes to charity.

    Trisha Simon from Lancaster said: “It’s fabulous.

    "We're all set - everything from beef sandwiches to Gala pie. We’ve even got rum punch."

    Marie Riding, from Bolton Le Sands, added: "I'm confident we’ll break the world record."

    As we celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee people have also been ooking back and remembering other Jubilee celebrations.

    In 1977 street parties took place across Merseyside to celebrate the Silver Jubilee, including this one in Huyton, where local children dressed in union flag colours to mark the occasion.

    A woman who ran 5km (three miles) after learning to walk again has been awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to mental health and wellbeing.

    Victoria Snell, of Salford, Greater Manchester has struggled with mental health issues after enduring years of pain before having her leg amputated.

    But the 30-year-old was determined to break down barriers and help others.

    She has been described as an "inspiration" by her colleagues at TransPennine Express (TPE).

    Crowds gathered in Blackpool to watch a heritage tram parade as part of the resort's Jubilee celebrations.

    Revellers turned out in warm weather at the beginning of the Bank Holiday weekend to fly flags and enjoy the entertainment.

    Our very own weatherman Owain Wyn Evans played a special set on drums in Cardiff for the Platinum Jubilee concert.

    He later met members of the Royal family.

    Owain said Princess Charlotte told him she liked his sparkly shoes, while Prince George advised him he needed glitter in his hair.
