  4. Appeal after cosmetics stolen at Liverpool Lime Street stationpublished at 17:35

    Police want to trace a man after £695 worth of cosmetics was stolen from the Boots store at Liverpool Lime Street station.

    The theft occurred at 16:00 on 4 November.

    British Transport Police believe the man could help with their inquiries.

    A man who admitted to smuggling cocaine in a model aeroplane has beenjailed for three and a half years.

    Steven Thornton, from St Helens, was arrested after customs officers at Stansted Airport intercepted a consignment from Venezuela.  

    The 42-year-old pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply Class A drugs in August before being sentenced today at Liverpool Crown Court, Merseyside Police said.

    Wrexham AFC player James Gray has been banned from driving for nearly two years, external after he was caught by police while nearly three times over the drink drive limit, after reports of a Mercedes being driven “erratically” on the M56 and M53.

    A community café has been set up in Widnes to give people with learning disabilities the chance to be in a working environment and develop their employability skills.

    Cllr Marie Wright said she wanted the people working in the café to become "valued members of the community".

  9. Appeal for missing Wallasey manpublished at 16:23

    Police are appealing for information after a 57-year-old man went missing from home on Sunday.

    Gary Cotgrave, from Seabank Road, Wallasey, was last seen at 18:00 in the Clairville pub in Liscard.

    He is described as slim, approximately 5ft 10in tall, with receding grey hair.

    He said: "Liverpool got a little bit bullied by Crystal Palace in their last match, and it was not the first time that has happened against teams that set out to play that way against them.

    "That will not be the way Manchester City will approach things, and I think the Reds will fare a bit better at the Etihad."

    Barrie Grunewald, leader of Labour-controlled St Helens Council, has called for an interim mayor to be installed before voters elect a permanent leader in 2017.

    Mr Grunewald said: "My personal view is that we do need to move to an interim mayor model.

    "We've signed the deal, the hard work has been done. Let's implement it, let's get capacity into the system and let's bring that economic regeneration to all of the city region."

  12. Liverpool churches mark Transgender Day of Remembrancepublished at 15:30

    Services are taking place in Liverpool for Transgender Day of Remembrance in memory of those who've died in prejudicial acts of violence.

    The day is being marked after a transgender woman who told her friends she would kill herself if she was sent to a male prison was found dead in jail.

    St Bride's Church in Percy Street is among the venues holding services, with a ceremony at 18:30.

    Images of a man, who investigators believe helped "many people" at the Hillsborough disaster, have been re-released as part of a witness appeal.

    The pictures have been published by the team investigating the stadium crush, external, in which 96 Liverpool fans died. 

    Investigators believe the man shown, who has been the subject of three earlier separate appeals, external, is actually the same person.
