Bird keeper Leanne Lowton said rearing the chicks, which were fed a combination of pinky mouse and papaya every few hours for five weeks, had required "a high degree of patience and lots of gentle encouragement".
Quote MessageFor a good few months it’s a time consuming process and life does tend to revolve around the chicks’ feeding schedule but it’s ever-so-rewarding to see them go on and fledge.

Harvest mice at a Cheshire nature reservse have been given a helping hand by a local tennis club - who have supplied 35 balls that have been made into mouse houses.
Wardens at the RSPB's Dee Estuary site have been trying to work out how many of the tiny mammals live on the nature reserve, but because the animals are so small and secretive, that was proving difficult.
Counting their ball-shaped nests seemed like the ideal solution, which led warden Alasdair Grubb to make use of a "trick that’s been used with balls from Wimbledon for years", drilling a hole in an old tennis ball, which can be easily seen in the dense vegetation.
He has put balls donated by Neston Cricket Club's tennis section around the reserve, which means "next summer, I’ll be able to revisit each tennis ball and see whether it has been used as a nest", he says.

Plans to fine rough sleepers in Chester are "not appropriate", Cheshire's police commissioner John Dwyer has said.
