BBC Travel is reporting rush-hour congestion on the M57 travelling eastbound at Knowsley, and around Mere Lane in Heswall.
Two men armed with a gun and a hammer raided a convenience store in Skelmersdale, pushing the shopkeeper before fleeing with cash from the till.
It happened at 18.30 on Thursday at M Singh's store on Elswick, while a third man waited outside.
The two men who entered the shop are said to have been aged about 18 or 19, and Merseyside Police are appealing for information.

A man suffered bite wounds when a rottweiler was ordered to attack him in St Helens, police said.
The 23-year-old needed hospital treatment after a man commanded the animal to pounce on him in an apparently unprovoked attack in Chancery Lane, before running away.
It happened on 8 January but Merseyside Police have only just released details as they appeal for information.
