    BBC Travel is reporting rush-hour congestion on the M57 travelling eastbound at Knowsley, and around Mere Lane in Heswall.

  4. Hunt for gun wielding shop robbers in Skelmersdalepublished at 17:48 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2016

    Two men armed with a gun and a hammer raided a convenience store in Skelmersdale, pushing the shopkeeper before fleeing with cash from the till.

    It happened at 18.30 on Thursday at M Singh's store on Elswick, while a third man waited outside.

    The two men who entered the shop are said to have been aged about 18 or 19, and Merseyside Police are appealing for information.

    The Care Quality Commission has found the quality of care provided by Vauxhall Primary Health Care on Limekiln Lane, Liverpool, to be outstanding after an inspection in November 2015.

    The GP practice had previously been rated Good overall following a comprehensive inspection in April last year and was required to improve its procedures for the safe recruitment of staff. Changes made by the practice mean the overall rating was changed to Outstanding. Read the full report., external

  7. Man bitten after rottweiler 'ordered to attack him'published at 16:39 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2016

    A man suffered bite wounds when a rottweiler was ordered to attack him in St Helens, police said.

    The 23-year-old needed hospital treatment after a man commanded the animal to pounce on him in an apparently unprovoked attack in Chancery Lane, before running away.

    It happened on 8 January but Merseyside Police have only just released details as they appeal for information.

    Services on Merseyrail's Chester line have been disrupted due to "passengers causing a disturbance" on a train, the travel company said.

    Trains running through Chester may be cancelled or delayed by up to eight minutes, until further notice.
