    This evening will bring some showery rain later but becoming drier after midnight. Top temperatures: 6-9C (43-48F).

    Tomorrow will be windy with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, heavy in places with local hail. Winds gusting 40-50mph at times and temperatures reaching 10-12C (50-54F).

  3. Watch: Pampering man's best friendpublished at 17:29

    Apparently more of us are pampering our pets these days, and in Norfolk there are plenty of places that offer grooming, colouring and clipping for your beloved pooch.

    Dapper Dogs Grooming Training Centre, external, near Norwich, trains students who want to get into the business, and looks after clientele ranging from Chihuahuas to Great Danes.

  5. Improvements lift GP practice out of special measurespublished at 17:09

    A GP practice in Gorleston has been taken out of special measures imposed following a Care Quality Inspection in October 2014.

    After a re-inspection in September,  the Family Healthcare Centre, external in East Anglia Way has now been rated "requires improvement".

    The CQC report says the surgery, external treated patients with dignity and kindness, and praised the cleanliness of the practice, but further improvements were needed, including developing care plans for patients who may suddenly need to go into hospital.

  6. Arrest over damage to police stationpublished at 17:05

    Norfolk police, external are investigating a case of criminal damage - to their own front door.

    Boards block the entrance to Great Yarmouth police station after it was damaged last night. The glazed sliding door is out of action and hanging off its rails.

    A 17-year-old boy has been arrested.

  7. Tax office closure is 'devastating', says unionpublished at 16:55

    HM Revenue and Customs says some of those who lose their jobs when the Norwich tax office closes could be offered alternative jobs at its new "super centre" at Stratford in east London.

    More than 150 people work at the Norwich office, and the PCS union, external expects most to be made redundant. It's described today's news as "devastating".

    The closure is part of the Treasury's plan to make budget savings of 30%.

    Norwich City striker Dieumerci Mbokani and midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu were part of the DR Congo team who won the first leg of their World Cup qualifier in Burundi 3-2 earlier.

    Despite a large amount of water on the pitch (pictured), the game went ahead.

    The second leg takes place on Sunday with the winners advancing to the African World Cup qualifying group stage.

  9. Charity event to raise awareness of homelessnesspublished at 16:29

    Dozens of people will be bedding down on the streets of Norwich tonight, with just a sleeping bag and cardboard mat.

    The Benjamin Foundation, external has organised a charity sleep-out to highlight to issue of homelessness, and to raise awareness of the challenges of sleeping outside.  

    Earlier this week, a fundraising sleep-out took place in King's Lynn to raise funds for the Purfleet Trust, external, so that it can remain open over Christmas.

  11. Postwick bridge to close overnightpublished at 16:06

    As part of the latest stage of roadworks at the Postwick Hub, near Norwich, the original bridge is to close from 22:00 tonight until 06:00 tomorrow.

    It's to allow traffic signal ducts to be installed for the junction works, external that are due to finish before Christmas.

    Traffic will be diverted via the new bridge over the A47 and Postwick Hub access roads.

  12. Police station door damagedpublished at 15:30

    Anyone who wants to contact officers at Great Yarmouth police station is advised to use the help point outside the building, following damage to the door.

    In recent months the station on Howard Street North has been subjected to vandalism. 

  13. Schools compete in literature quizpublished at 15:15

    Teams from 13 schools in Norfolk are taking part in the regional heat of a children's literature competition.

    The Kids' Lit Quiz, external is an international competition that aims to improve literacy among young people by encouraging them to read widely.

    Winners from today's event at Thetford Academy will go forward to the national final in London next month, with national winners representing the UK in New Zealand next August.

    Norfolk County Council, external is warning people about a potentially malicious email that looks as if it has come from its accounts department.

    These emails appear to have come from accountspayable@norfolk.gov.uk and have a spreadsheet attached.

    The council's IT specialists are investigating, and anyone who receives this email is warned not to open it or the attachment.

    The proposed development at Sculthorpe, near Fakenham, included homes, a primary school and play areas.

    Nearly 200 people had raised concerns about the development, which would have doubled the size of the village.

  18. Trust calls for move away from 'engineered' sea defencespublished at 13:48

    Concrete sea defences are not the answer to rising sea levels, says the National Trust, external.

    Instead, the organisation favours working with nature and moving people, infrastructure and habitats out of harm's way where possible.

    It's adopted this approach at Blakeney, which suffered widespread flooding in the tidal surge of December 2013.
