    A new sport, with a big following in the United States, has now reached Norfolk.

    Disc Golf is played with flying discs - and anyone can do it. There's no need for the formality of the right clothes or expensive golf clubs.

    A pensioner from Gorleston is nearing the end of a journey around England, external, using only his bus pass.

    Malcolm Metcalf, 82, set off from Great Yarmouth (seen above) almost a month ago, hoping to raise £2,000 for the East Coast Hospice. He was in Essex earlier this morning, but tomorrow he plans on putting his feet up and relaxing in his own armchair at home.

    This Bank Holiday Monday the Archdeacon’s Charge and Picnic will be held at Sandringham.

    The leader of the Green Party says she's hoping for a crop of new councillors following next week's local elections.

    Natalie Bennett is campaigning in Norwich where the Greens are the main opposition on the City Council. Ms Bennett said that her party's success in Norwich proved that voting Green was not a wasted vote.

  9. PCC debate: Current PCC 'tried to merge force control rooms'published at 16:30 British Summer Time 29 April 2016

    The current Police and Crime Commissioner for Norfolk says he would like to see the force work more closely with colleagues in Suffolk.

    Stephen Bett (Independent) was taking part in a debate on BBC Radio Norfolk earlier today, along with the five other candidates for next week's elections. He said he tried to merge the two forces' control rooms to save £4.3m but the move was refused by Suffolk.

  10. Watch: Third peregrine chick has hatchedpublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 29 April 2016

    The third of four eggs laid by Norwich Cathedral's peregrine falcons has hatched, keeping mum and dad busy.

    The chick began "pipping" - rolling around inside the egg to get in the right position - before using an egg tooth on its beak to break a hole in the egg, showing it was ready to hatch.

    Once the egg starts breaking, the adults help break the shell and pull it apart. The fourth chick is expected to appear imminently.  

  11. PCC debate: 'Merger may not solve forces' financial problems'published at 16:02 British Summer Time 29 April 2016

    A full merger of Norfolk and Suffolk police forces might not solve the counties' financial problems, according to the Labour candidate for the role of Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC).

    Chris Jones made his comments during a live debate on BBC Radio Norfolk earlier, featuring all six candidates for next week's election.

    The Conservative candidate for next week's Police and Crime Commissioner elections says he'll use shock tactics to make people slow down on the county's roads.

    Takign part in a BBC Radio Norfolk debate, Lorne Green says he plans to tackle dangerous driving, and says wrecked cars will help to drive home a safety message.

  14. PCC debate: 'Introduce late-night levy', says Green candidatepublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 29 April 2016

    The Green candidate for next weeks' Police and Crime Commissioner elections says he wouldn't be against raising council tax to pay for late-night policing.

    Martin Schmierer, who was taking part in a BBC Radio Norfolk debate earlier, suggested introducing a late-night levy in areas such as Norwich's Prince of Wales Road (pictured) to fund more policing in the area.

    Jacky Howe, the Liberal Democrat candidate for next week's Norfolk Police and Crime Commissioner elections, told a BBC Radio Norfolk debate earlier that she was opposed to the legalisation of cannabis.

    Ms Howe also said she was not being funded or controlled by her party. The Liberal Democrats are backing a new report calling for the legalised sale of marijuana through licensed outlets.

    An ancient woodland is to open to the public for the first time in centuries.

    It's part of the Norfolk Bluebell Wood burial ground, external at Hainford, near Norwich.

    Each spring, a stunning display of of blue and green carpets the ground.
