    Former banker Jacky Howe , externalis a Liberal Democrat with experience as a local and county councillor after moving to Norfolk in 1996.

    She says she wants to increase attention on unreported crimes, the loss of half of police community support officers and the growth of gangs involved in drugs and human trafficking.

    Labour candidate Dr Chris Jones, external is a retired consultant in forensic psychiatry, who is turning to politics after 32 years in the NHS.

    He has worked with offenders in his professional life and believes this gives him particular insight into the role of the PCC.

    He moved to Norfolk 15 years ago with his wife, a retired mental health nurse.

  3. Meet the PCC candidates: Stephen Bettpublished at 09:00 British Summer Time 29 April 2016

    Independent Stephen Bett was elected as Norfolk's first PCC, external in November 2012.

    He says under his leadership, the force has overseen a number of initiatives, including basing mental health experts in police control rooms. Last October Norfolk Police was rated "outstanding" by inspectors.

    This is the first time the Green Party has contested the Norfolk PCC elections.

    Martin Schmierer, a Norwich city councillor for Mancroft ward, is campaigning against budget reductions and privatisation within the police force. 

    He also plans to protect rural policing and ensure that resources are not solely focused on the county’s towns and cities.

    Conservative candidate Lorne Green, external is Canadian by background, but a British citizen.

    He's had a home in Norfolk for the past 30 years and believes the police can become more efficient if all the emergency services, criminal justice system and community services work together.

    PCCs are responsible for hiring and firing chief constables, and deciding on the priorities of forces.

    The role of Police and Crime Commissioner was created by the coalition government, with the first elections in 2012. There was a low turnout - averaging 15%.

    There's less than a week to go before we all get the chance to vote for the next Police and Crime Commissioner for Norfolk.

    The six candidates are taking part in a live debate on BBC Radio Norfolk at 09:00. They are: Lorne Green, Conservative; Martin Schmierer, Green; Stephen Bett, Independent; Chris Jones, Labour; Jacky Howe, Liberal Democrat and David Moreland, UKIP.

    Olympic silver medalist Emma Pooley has weighed into the row about discrimination within British cycling.

    Pooley, from Norwich, had suggested in an interview with The Guardian , externalthat Team Sky's failure to start a women's team pointed to a culture of sexism in the sport.

    Double British road race champion Peter Kennaugh has apologised to Pooley after he tweeted that she should "get over it" before deleting his message.

    He later tweeted an apology,, external saying he came across like a "total idiot".

  11. Walsh twins aim to put Norfolk in the spotlightpublished at 08:34 British Summer Time 29 April 2016

    Ryan and Liam Walsh want to use the biggest night of their careers so far to put Norfolk boxing in the spotlight. 

    The Cromer twins both defend their British titles at The Copper Box in London tomorrow night.

    Liam told me: "It's our time now. We've got to make some waves and put Norwich, Norfolk and Cromer on the map." 

  12. Row over road resurfacingpublished at 08:32 British Summer Time 29 April 2016

    A row has broken out about the resurfacing of part of Great Yarmouth's Golden Mile.

    Marine Parade was cobbled with granite outside the Britannia Pier in a regeneration scheme, 10 years ago. But Norfolk County Council says the road had become badly worn and dangerous - and has replaced the granite with asphalt.

    Michael Cole, who runs the Joyland fun park next to the new road surface, says he was led to believe the seafront was going to a more pedestrian-friendly zone, with the cobbles eventually extending to Wellington Pier to slow the traffic - but it's now been turned back into a plain road.

    Norfolk fisheries say they are having to spend hundreds of thousands of pounds to protect their lakes from otters.

    The mammals live in rivers but can get into ponds and lakes, killing fish stocks. Since the 1980s, otters have been re-introduced to watercourses, and after a decline in the 1950s and 1960s they are now a protected species.

    David Wilby, who runs a fishery near Lenwade, has spent over £75,000 putting up two miles (3km) of fencing around two lakes.
