Aran Clyne, from Wagtail UK , says it has taken several months of rigorous training to develop his skills in tracking wildlife.

"It's all about building an association between the newt smell and Rocky's reward, the tennis ball," he said. "Whenever he finds a newt he gets his ball."

Newts have been discovered in three areas along the 12-mile (20km) route of the Norwich Northern Distributor Road. It's Rocky's job to ensure all of the the protected species are found, so they can be moved to new homes.
