Here is the cabling that developed faults between Witham and Shenfield in Essex last night, causing massive disruption on Greater Anglia services today:

Greater Anglia passengers travelling between London and Norwich are being advised to check before they travel, following significant damage to the overhead wires in Essex.

Network Rail say: "We have carried out repairs to the overhead wires so that trains can run through the evening peak and passengers can get home tonight. 

"However, there will be a reduced service and passengers are advised to check before they travel.

“Further repairs will be carried out overnight to get the service back to normal as soon as possible. 

"A full investigation will be carried out to find out exactly what caused the problems.”

A second attempt by a drinker to have a murder conviction overturned has failed at the Court of Appeal. 

Stuart James Layden, 34, from Harlow in Essex, was one of a gang who attacked Ian Church, 40, outside the Bricklayer's Arms in Great Yarmouth in May 2012.

His conviction for a "joint enterprise" murder along with four others in 2013, was quashed on appeal in 2015. 

A retrial at Norwich Crown Court last year re-convicted him of the murder and he was again jailed for life. 

Today Lord Justice Treacy, sitting at London's Criminal Appeal Court, heard him mount an attack on the jury's guilty verdict and then dismissed his application for permission to appeal. 

Mr Church was kicked and stamped upon after being knocked to the ground outside the pub and died of brain injuries. 

Lawyers for Layden had argued that there remained a "lurking doubt" about his involvement in the attack.

Dismissing the application, Lord Justice Treacy said: "It was for the jury to sift and analyse these shocking events, which happened at night over a short period of time - that is what juries do."

Norwich City are in a search to get a replacement for Martin Olssen, who has been sold to Premiership side Swansea for £4m.

On the January transfer window front, Canaries' boss, external Alex Neil confirmed there had been dialogue with two Dutch left-backs playing in Europe. 

But at the moment deals are dead in the water, he said. 

"We are working as hard we can to improve the squad, as always. We are aiming high to bring those players in.

"I've got a list of left-backs as long as my arm."

He paid tribute to two players who had already extended contracts.

"Josh and Jacob [the Murphy brothers] are now tied down for a number of years, and they will be huge assets for this club going forward."

A former coach and football scout is arrested over allegations of abuse in the sport.

Norwich City manager Alex Neil says midfielder Louis Thompson will miss the rest of the season with an Achilles injury.

A large, enthusiastic crowd welcomed the Queen when she visited the Sainsbury Centre's exhibition, external Fiji: Art & Life In The Pacific which showcased the Commonwealth country's sculptures, textiles and ceramics alongside ivory and shell regalia. 

It was her first official outing since recovering from a bout of illness which kept her away from engagements since early December.

The exhibition not only featured Fijian artworks but the European response to them - paintings, drawings and historic photographs from the 19th and 20th centuries.

These include watercolours by the intrepid Victorian travel writer and artist Constance Gordon-Cumming, and the Irish naval artist James Glen Wilson, who was in Fiji in the 1850s. 

During her visit the monarch stopped to watch a black and white news reel which showed the chiefly reception, or Veiqaravi Vakaturaga, when a whale tooth and others, which symbolise chiefly power and authority, were presented to her during her 1953 visit to Fiji. 

Looking intently at the screen showing herself as a young woman, the Queen stepped closer to the moving images.

MPs and business leaders have been told that plans to upgrade the Ely rail junction are complex and will take a while to deliver.

There's been a long campaign to improve the junction, which would allow for more frequent services from King's Lynn and Norwich to Cambridge, Peterborough and on to London.

Network Rail told a summit in Downham Market earlier that due to problems in redesigning the junction and a nearby level crossing it wouldn't be able to start work until after 2019.

The meeting was told that improving the junction would bring a significant boost to the local economy.

Today local councils and business groups pledged almost £8m to fund a study into the project to keep things moving.

The Queen has visited Fiji a number of times during her reign and was well versed with the Pacific nation's customs, but as she was taken on her tour of a display at the Sainsbury Centre, external in Norwich she appeared fascinated by the exhibits and asked a number of questions.

She was met by the towering figure of 19-year-old Joe Cokanasiga, a rugby wing at London Irish, when she arrived. 

He was was dressed as one of the two Fijian warrior guards.

Wearing just a skirt made from dried bark strands he stands 6ft 4ins tall, weighs 17 stone and was an imposing figure, but he broke out into a smile when asked how he felt about performing for her. 

The Fiji-born sportsman said: "It was a bit cold out there but a real experience and honour to be asked to be here - we added some atmosphere to the occasion."

She gazed at the large war club on his shoulder and he said: "These are replicas, the real things are made from hardwood and many are in the exhibition."

We know the man arrested today by Cambridgeshire Police in its ongoing investigation into abuse in football is Michael Sean Carson, better known as "Kit".

Mr Carson, 74, is well known in footballing circles locally and indeed internationally, for what has at times been described as his "pioneering" youth development work - working with youngsters between the ages of nine and 16, and organising more than 30 tournaments abroad.

He joined Norwich City as youth manager in 1983, leaving 10 years later to take up the post of academy director at Peterborough United.

It was there, over the next 10 years at London Road, working with mangers including Chris Turner and Barry Fry, that Mr Carson developed a reputation for excellence within youth coaching, nurturing 13 youngsters to international honours.

In 2001, Mr Carson moved to Cambridge United, becoming head of youth development under manager Jon Taylor - a position he held until 2006.

Following a spell with Histon Football Club, he began coaching youth teams in Finland from 2012. It's unclear whether he's still actively involved coaching there.

We understand the allegations relate to his work at Cambridge United and Peterborough United.

Police confirmed they arrested a man in his 70s at his Cambridge home and took him into custody on suspicion of indecency with children, and indecent assault.

Cambridgeshire Police are encouraging anyone with concerns about these allegations to contact them on 101 or the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000.
