Environmental officers are making daily visits to a timber yard fire in North Runcton to assess the impact of smoke on the local community.
The fire broke out shortly before midday on Saturday (pictured) and firefighters remain on site, overseeing a controlled burn, which could take up to 14 days due to the amount of wood involved.
The water run-off is being monitored by the Environment Agency, and to date there's no pollution to local rivers and ground water.
Chequers Lane will remain closed until further notice.
Residents are advised to avoid being in the smoke plume and to avoid contact with smoke deposits near to the site. They're also advised to keep windows and doors shut, and to avoid spending unnecessary time outdoors.
Motorists who have to travel through the smoke plume should keep windows and air vents closed, and turn off the air conditioning.
Anyone with health concerns is advised to contact their GP or the NHS 111 service.
