  1. Dog walker tells of £50m drugs findpublished at 14:37 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2017

    Mike Liggins
    BBC Look East

It was late morning last Thursday, the tide was going out and it's the only time you could get on to Hopton beach.

Dog walker Valerie McGee decided to make the most of the opportunity and take Rudey for a walk on the sand.

It was then, she told me, that she saw what looked like "about 10 sports bags, roped together, with plastic containers that looked like floats".

Valerie McGee, in blue waterproof coat and light purple scarf

"The dog went to have a closer look and I had a look... they looked a bit odd for something to find on the beach. It crossed my mind they looked a bit suspicious but I'm no expert.

"I didn't look as I didn't want to uncover anything unsavoury... I left that to the experts.

A close-up of Rudey the dog

"Things do wash up, bits and pieces of flotsam and jetsam particularly when the wind is in the east... usually dead seals...

"I think they came adrift because of the winds and tides.

"The bags were all intact, everything seemed sealed up.

"Over the weekend all and sundry came down to look, and they still are."

A member of the public stumbled across the holdalls packed with the class A drug at Hopton-on-Sea near Gorleston on Thursday. The following day more packages were found at Caister.
