Dr Mils Hills, who is an associate professor of risk, resilience and corporate security at the University of Northampton, has told the BBC the cyber attack on the NHS "could have been prevented".

"It's most certainly going to have come from a user clicking something they shouldn't have, whether it's in an email or on an internet browser tab," he said.

"Hospitals should have measures to prevent this.

"It will be fixed and removed, but it will cost a lot. The task to fix it won't be difficult, but will be time-consuming.

"The problem is this is a pretty low-level attack and it's causing such chaos."

An NHS Digital statement said: "NHS Digital is working closely with the National Cyber Security Centre, the Department of Health and NHS England to support affected organisations and ensure patient safety is protected."

A foodbank says it's in need of more supplies and is too dependent on the same people making donations.

Demand for parcels from the Great Yarmouth Foodbank, external has soared - in April it gave out more than 1,700 packs, compared to 800 in January.

The Salvation Army Citadel is one of the groups involved in the town's foodbank, and its community manager Alan Smith tells me they've had so many people coming in for parcels, that supplies have run very low.

"There's a whole range of stuff we're after - anything in tins - meat and vegetables, packets of food, baked beans... stuff that can be stored for a long time."

They get some of their supplies from local supermarkets, and Alan says they also rely on the generosity of the community.

Most of this afternoon's showers should quickly move away to leave a largely dry and frost-free night with clear spells across the BBC East region.

Temperatures in some spots will remain in double figures.

It’s spells of sunshine and scattered showers for Saturday, and while we can’t rule out an odd heavy downpour, there will be some places that stay dry throughout the day. 

The winds will be a light to moderate south to south-westerly with temperatures possibly reaching 20C (68F).

The brother of Brian Heed, found murdered at his Dereham home earlier this year, says the family's life has been "sadly changed forever".

In a personal victim statement, Leslie Heed said: "The day will never leave me and will haunt me always. 

"This barbaric act is indescribable and inexcusable. To die for so little gain just doesn't make sense to any of us. Our family is now forever... broken."

Mr Heed was found in the hallway of his Boyd Avenue home on Sunday, 5 February. A post mortem examination showed that the 69-year-old had been subjected to a significant sustained knife attack.

At Norwich Crown Court today, Richard Alan Beane (pictured), 49, of Brunswick Close in Dereham, was jailed for 28 years.

Some of the dead man's personal belongings were found dumped in the countryside.

The James Paget University Hospital, external is among those affected by a major cyber attack, which is affecting IT systems at hospitals across the UK.

The Gorleston hospital has confirmed it has implemented a paper system instead of computers, and is following a well-trodden emergency plan.

Both the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, external in King's Lynn and the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, external have reported that they are so far unaffected.

Norwich Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the link between GPs and other healthcare providers - says while it's not been affected, it has followed national NHS advice to turn off its computers and use paper instead, as have other CCG's in north and south Norfolk.

Brian Heed, who'd just turned 69, had been the victim of a sustained, brutal attack at the hands of Richard Beane.

Det Ch Insp Marie James, who led the investigation into the murder, says the crime was "cold and callous" and officers who went to his Boyd Avenue home were met by a "horrific scene".

Mr Heed was well-known and well-liked, an active member of his community in Dereham.

At Norwich Crown Court, Judge Stephen Holt handed down a 28-year jail term to 49-year-old Beane, a sentence which Ms James says is "pleasing", but will not make things better for Mr Heed's family.

Suffolk darts player Peter Wright has put last night's disappointment in Aberdeen immediately behind him.

The 47-year-old from Mendham was pipped to the Premier League, external Winner's Bonus as Michael van Gerwen finished top of the table at the end of the regular season.

Wright is now focusing on next Thursday's Finals Night at London's O2 Arena, where he'll come up against Phil Taylor, Gary Anderson and Michael van Gerwen.

"I've qualified for the top four for the first time and I'm happy with that.

"I'm pinching myself thinking that I'm in that top four - it's crazy. My form's coming and I've got another week to get it right for the O2."

RNLI lifeguards will be returning to beaches in Norfolk and Suffolk to keep visitors safe.

Following intensive training, they'll return to duty this weekend at Sheringham West, Cromer East, Mundesley, Gorleston and Sea Palling. 

A fortnight later, on 27 May, they'll be on patrol at Lowestoft South and Southwold North.

By 8 July, the charity will have lifeguards - in their distintive red and yellow uniforms - at 17 beaches across the two counties, from 10:00-18:00, seven days a week.

A man has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 28 years for the murder of a pensioner in Dereham.

Brian Heed, 69, was found dead at his home on Boyd Avenue in February, Norwich Crown Court heard.

He'd been the victim of a sustained violent attack, with more than 100 separate injuries from a kitchen knife.

He was known to his attacker - Richard Beane - through Toftwood Social Club, the court heard. Days before the murder, Beane had gone to Mr Heed's home and attempted to steal money.

Beane, 49, of Brunswick Close, was captured on CCTV on Friday, 3 February walking on foot with a plastic bag towards Mr Heed's home.

The bag was believed to have contained a kitchen knife taken from his home.

On Sunday, 5 February, discarded clothes along with personal belongings of Mr Heed were found dumped in the countryside.

Police officers went to Mr Heed's home where they discovered his body in the hallway. Later that evening, Beane was arrested at the social club.

The roller skating rink at Great Yarmouth's Marina Centre is to re-open to the public tomorrow.

Retroskate, external closed suddenly last month, with landlords Sentinel Leisure Trust citing legal issues as a reason to terminate the tenancy.

Gaynor Read, a director of the skate club, says they've now entered a new lease with the landlords, and it's business as usual.

Both sides say they're pleased at how well negotiations have been conducted, and at the outcome achieved.

Stuart Everett, of Sentinel Leisure Trust, says they're pleased they were able to support the club in training at the venue in preparation for the British Championships during the period of talks, and wish them every success.

You can expect a full moon in Norwich tonight.

Two days ago there was a real one in the sky... but now there's another giant inflatable version hovering at The Forum.

It's there for the Norfolk and Norwich Festival, external.

A line-up of lunar-inspired music, dance and performance will take place beneath the moon from 18:00, ending with a mixed choir marking the ending of the day as night falls.

If you can't get there tonight, there's more tomorrow... including moon-themed workshops at 13:30, and performing arts students presenting a theatre piece on the history of the moon.

The arts festival begins today and continues until 28 May. Events are taking place at locations across the city.

Happisburgh RNLI has taken delivery of the fastest inshore lifeboat in the search and rescue charity's fleet - the Atlantic 85.

• It can reach a top speed of 35 knots (about 40mph)
• Is powered by two 115hp 4-stroke engines
• Can handle challenging open sea conditions - force 7 winds in daylight, force 6 at night
• Ideal for rescues close to shore, near cliffs and rocks... and even inside caves
• Can be beached in an emergency, without sustaining damage to engines

The Atlantic B was introduced into the fleet in 2005, and is gradually replacing the Atlantic 75.

The Atlantic 85 has room for more kit and for four crew members, compared to three on the Atlantic 75. 

But both have space for a high number of survivors.

Should the boat capsize, her engines are inversion-proofed and can be restarted once she's been righted.

The Happisburgh boat will be named Howard Bell, who was part of the RNLI in Harwich and is the main benefactor of the boat. 

Joan Mary, an Atlantic 75, is the current boat at Happisburgh - once she leaves, she will join the RNLI's relief fleet.

Cloud will clear this afternoon, to allow bright or sunny spells, followed by scattered showers.

A midwife is shaving her head to help raise money for a terminally-ill boy.

It will be the second time that Shona Simpson, who works at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn, will lose her hair to help four-year-old Jac Coffey.

In 2015, the little boy was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour, which was removed in a 17-hour operation at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge.

Last month, his parents Kayleigh and Jay were told their son's cancer had returned. 

The jury has gone out in the case of a man accused of murder.

Steve Stannard, 37, died after being stabbed at his flat in Bowers Avenue, Norwich, on 5 November last year.

Hassiem Baqir, 19, of Howberry Road, Thornton Heath in south London, denies murder.

The trial is being held at Norwich Crown Court.

The court has previously heard the defendant admit he carries a knife, was involved in drug-dealing, but that he was "not violent".
