The deal has been described as a "substantial long-term partnership" by the club.

    Tom Smith

Club director Tom Smith said: "As a self-funding club it's vitally important that we have these long-term deals in place to give the football side of the business the support it needs."

  2. Southern stingrays' birth a firstpublished at 13:31 British Summer Time 11 May 2017

The southern stingray quadruplets are the first ever stingray babies to be born at the Hunstanton Sea Life Sanctuary, external since it opened in 1989.

Their mother Stella, arrived at the aquarium in 2014, taking up residence in their 187,500 litre ocean tank.

Unlike native rays, which lay eggs, southern stingrays give birth to live young which are usually left to fend for themselves in the wild.

The four little ones - three males and one female - were already exploring the ocean tank before they were spotted by visitors, and have now been removed to their own tank.

The sanctuary hopes the births are the first in a long line of future babies.

The first they knew of them was when a group of visitors to the aquarium spotted the four little babies swimming around the ocean tank.

The quadruplets have now been put in their own tank, where they'll be closely watched and cared for until they're big enough to return to the ocean tank.

  4. 'Essential' military jet training disturbing Cambridgeshire residentspublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 11 May 2017

    Paul Stainton
    BBC Radio Cambridgeshire

There are complaints that military jet flights are keeping some Peterborough and Fenland residents awake.

Listeners to BBC Radio Cambridgeshire have been telling me that aircraft are causing windows to vibrate.

Nicky Hampshaw from Peterborough says the planes were "very low" and "rattled the house", Dale McKeen says they were flying too early.

The US Air Force at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk has confirmed training missions are taking place.

Col Donn Yates says he understands people's concerns, but their activities are part of their "essential training" and have been taking place this week from 07:30.

He says it's so they can carry out "basic fighter manoeuvres and air combat manoeuvres".

"This is just part of our normal readiness," he added.

"We just need to make sure our pilots have a certain amount of sorties, external a month, to make sure they're ready for any task."

  7. A47: The latest we havepublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 11 May 2017

    BBC Radio Norfolk

We've had problems since this morning on the A47 in Norwich, along the southern bypass heading Dereham-bound.

At the moment it seems the slip road from the A47 to Thickthorn for the A11 remains closed.

There was a lot of diesel spilled which is taking some time for emergency services to clear to make the road safe again.

The A47 appears to be open again, whether that's one lane or both we can't confirm but it is still very slow from the A146 Trowse junction.

We've heard from a motorist that a lot of people were going off at the A140 Ipswich Road junction, but he said there weren't any police there specifically directing you off.

So checking the sensors, still slow on the A47 from Trowse. But understandably as many of you have been sent down the Ipswich Road, that's very slow, adding an extra 20 minutes onto your journey.

  11. A47: Traffic starting to movepublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 11 May 2017

    BBC Radio Norfolk

If you're looking to travel from Great Yarmouth, Brundall, Postwick onto the southern bypass Dereham- bound...I don't normally give this advice but today my best advice for you quite simply is...don't.

Things are at a standstill from well before the A146 Trowse junction all the way towards the A11 Thickthorn junction after a bin lorry caught fire earlier. There's been a lot of diesel spilled and it's taking some time to clear it up.

Police have now reopened the outside lane of the main carriageway, westbound, and traffic is now starting to move.

If you're trying to come off the A47 Dereham-bound to pick up the A11 at Thickthorn, the slip road remains closed while emergency services clear up the spilled diesel.

The sensors still say five mile queues, and the A47 is down to one lane so it's going to continue being slow.

  12. Lorry fire causing travel disruption in Norwichpublished at 10:48 British Summer Time 11 May 2017

Traffic is at a standstill around the Thickthorn roundabout, with some motorists stuck for 90 mins, after a bin lorry caught fire.

The road is now closed westbound on the southern bypass, the A47, heading westbound towards Dereham and King's Lynn, from the A140.

  13. Boat owners urged to 'be alarmed'published at 10:30 British Summer Time 11 May 2017

    Caroline Kingdon
    BBC Local Live

It's believed Alan Frost and Tina Wilkins had left their main engine running, and fumes from the exhaust had worked their way into the canopy and accommodation areas.

Gas accumulated, as all ventilation was shut. With no carbon monoxide alarm on board, the couple were not alerted to the presence of the gas.

Carbon monoxide is ever-present on small boats, with combustion engines and gas cookers. But the fitting of alarms on boats is not a legal requirement.

The Marine Accident Invesigation Branch (MAIB) report into the deaths of the Essex couple on Wroxham Broad in June last year, mentions some recommendations it made in 2015 to improve safety.

MAIB spokesman Tony Brown says a law would help, but ultimately it's the responsibility of individual boat owners to ensure the safety of their own boats and the people on them.

"In the leisure boating area, there's lots of boats in close proximity and all with confined spaces inside... the presence of carbon monoxide is quite common, particularly with engine start-ups," he warned.

    Insp Tony Brown
    Quote Message

Boats, like caravans and dwellings, are enclosed spaces... keep watchful and be aware of the dangers... carbon monoxide is a silent killer, no odour, you can't taste it, the symptoms are largely unrecognised."

Lowestoft and Southwold Coastguard Rescue Teams were informed of the incident just after 14:00 on Tuesday.

Additional emergency services were called, a doctor who lives locally helped the teams and the RNLI Gorleston lifeboat was diverted.

The man was transferred to the James Paget Hospital in Gorleston.

  15. Wroxham boat deaths: Couple's first boat holidaypublished at 09:12 British Summer Time 11 May 2017

    Caroline Kingdon
    BBC Local Live

Retired carpenter Alan Frost had bought the Love For Lydia in March 2016.

He'd previously hired boats on the Broads with his long-term partner, Tina Wilkins, 51. It was the first boat the couple had owned, and neither of them held any boating qualifications.

The couple had collected the boat from its moorings at Sabena Marine on 6 June. It would be their first holiday on board.

    Emergency vehicles in boat yard

On the afternoon of 9 June, an ice cream vendor had become concerned after noticing the Love For Lydia had been moored alongside Wroxham Island for two days - the maximum permitting mooring time is 24 hours.

He, and another boater, discovered the bodies of Mr Frost and Ms Wilkins inside the boat, and alerted emergency services.

Police officers were taken to the island on the River Bure in the ice cream vendor's boat, with other emergency services being transported by Broads Authority rangers.

  16. Report into Wroxham boat deathspublished at 08:34 British Summer Time 11 May 2017

    Caroline Kingdon
    BBC Local Live

A report has been released into the deaths of two people and their dog on a boat on the Norfolk Broads.

Alan Frost, 64, and 51-year-old Tina Wilkins, and their dog died on board their boat, "Love For Lydia", on Wroxham Broad in June last year.

It's believed the couple, from Grays, Essex, had left the motor idling when they'd moored up to charge the batteries on board. There were no carbon monoxide alarms on the boat.

Police forensic vehicles at the boat yard

The Marine Accident Investigation Branch, external (MAIB) report concludes engine emissions got into the cabin, becoming concentrated within eight minutes.

Some leisure boaters do not realise the importance of fitting an alarm, and the MAIB says awareness still needs raising.
