  1. Man charged over damage to butcher's shoppublished at 08:29 British Summer Time 31 July 2017

    A man has been charged with criminal damage following an incident at a city centre butcher's shop.

    Police were called to the Norwich Halal Butcher's on Magdalen Street shortly before 23:30 on Tuesday after a brick had been thrown, causing damage to the shop door.

    A 43-year-old man has since been arrested and charged with racially or religiously aggravated criminal damage.

    He'll appear at Norwich Magistrates' Court in September.

    Tens of thousands of motor sport fans were at Snetterton this weekend to see reigning British Touring Car, external champion Gordon Shedden pick up an unlikely win.

    The Scot has a two point lead at the top of the standings after winning the third race. Ashley Sutton claimed the chequered flag in the first two.

    Shedden could only post the 21st quickest time in qualifying and admitted his win came despite having an inferior car to Sutton who crashed out of that final race.

    "This was a really rough weekend for us," Shedden told BBC Radio Norfolk.

    "It hasn't been great and we need to find more."

  3. Murder investigation following woman's deathpublished at 08:12 British Summer Time 31 July 2017

    Detectives have begun a murder inquiry following the death of a woman in Norwich.

    Officers were called to Godric Place, off Bowthorpe Road,shortly before 14:30 on Saturday following concerns about the safety of a woman.

    A body was found and a post-mortem examination carried out yesterday showed she'd been subjected to a sustained assault.

    Two men and a woman were arrested in connection with the incident and remain in police custody for questioning.
