    Northampton Town chairman David Cardoza has said that "potential purchasers are well aware of all the issues," including a winding up petition issued by HMRC.

    On the sale of the club, Mr Cardoza said: "Meetings have and are continuing this week and we are very close to reaching an agreement" adding, "we believe we will have some definite news very soon".

    We have just learnt that HM Revenue & Customs has issued a winding up petition against Northampton Town. Chairman David Cardoza has said it is a "temporary issue due to the delays in completing the takeover".

    In a statement, Mr Cardoza said he "put a proposal to HMRC late on Wednesday to head off these proceedings," but was unsuccessful.

    HM Revenue & Customs have issued legal proceedings against the Cobblers for monies outstanding.

    Northampton Town chairman David Cardoza has said in a statement that he "fully expects the matter to be resolved by the end of next week".

    He said fans simply have to wait and "hope" that a £10.25m loan from Northampton Borough Council is repaid today after the authority imposed that deadline upon the club.

    Plans to build 55 holiday lodges on Jack's Green, between the villages of King's Cliffe and Wansford  in East Northamptonshire, have been approved subject to conditions.

    The site, on an area of grassland and hard standing in Rockingham Forest, includes a former Second World War airfield and a monument that commemorates Glenn Miller's last hangar concert in 1944.

    A former director of Northampton Town has said some of the £10.25m loan, which the borough council has demanded the club repay by today, was paid to the Cobblers outside of the loan conditions and without proper scrutiny and supervision.

    Speaking to BBC Radio Northampton, Tony Clarke said "all sides are now playing catch-up" and that the communication from the club has been "appalling".

    A 1960 red Ferrari 250 GT SWB (pictured) sold for £6.6m, while a silver 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 sold for £1.93m.

    Northampton Borough Council lent the Cobblers £10.25m two years ago to complete the development of Sixfields, but as you can see the East stand remains unbuilt and the club hadn't been meeting its repayment installments to the council.

    Last month councillors said enough was enough and demanded the money be repaid with the deadline today. If not met there could be legal action.

  12. Four vehicles involved in collision on M1 between junction 15 and 14 southboundpublished at 08:23
