    A politician who has experienced real life, or one who hasn't lived in the real world?

    It is a question posed by new borough council leader Jonathan Nunn, after it was revealed his company went into liquidation in 2014.

    Mr Nunn said: "Are you better off if you have never experienced difficulties of any sort? Some people are criticised for being full-time politicians who haven't lived in the real world."

    He said when business owners in Northampton talk to him about rates or difficulties paying bills, he will not "just nod, I [will] absolutely feel it".

    New borough council leader Jonathan Nunn said his business went into liquidation in 2014 due to the "change in the economy".

    Reports on Companies House, external (pictured in part above) show a liquidator was appointed in April 2014 to wind-up Individual Team Performance - which had provided business training for more than 12 years.

    The company owed more than £20,000 to HM Revenue & Customs.

    The liquidator criticised Mr Nunn for "repeatedly failing to provide evidence of his financial worth" during the winding-up process.

    New Northampton Borough Council leader Jonathan Nunn has revealed the pain of seeing a business go into liquidation.

    His Individual Team Performance Limited was wound-up in 2014. It had owed HM Revenue & Customs more than £20,000, external.

    Mr Nunn said people whose businesses collapse "deplete every penny, they're driving a motor car worth a few hundred quid and have probably borrowed money off their friends."

    Talking about his own company, he said: "This is not a question of some sort of big, clever liquidation."

    He told the BBC: "I provided every piece of information required - which actually didn't paint a pretty picture.

    "You don't ever get to the stage of thinking you have to liquidate a business until things are pretty awful.

    "This came about as a result of enormous personal stress and financial difficulty."

    One of the big tasks facing newly appointed Northampton Borough Council leader Jonathan Nunn will be trying to recoup the missing £10m loan made to Northampton Town.

    So news that his own business, Individual Team Performance Limited, went into liquidation two years ago owing the tax man £20,000 may not inspire residents.

    The £10.25m was loaned to redevelop the Cobblers' Sixfields stadium, but has seemingly vanished.

    Responding to criticism on Twitter, external, Mr Nunn said his experience meant he could look struggling business owners "in the eye and honestly tell them, I know how you feel."

    Last week the former deputy leader, who took over after Mary Markham resigned, spoke about how he had been convicted of actual bodily harm in 2004 after attacking his then wife.

    Now Mr Nunn has been forced to field questions about how his company, Individual Team Performance Limited, went into liquidation in 2014, external - owing the tax man more than £20,000.

    An eight-year-old girl from Kettering has been crowned World Puddle Jumping Champion.

    Melanie Miles was victor at the annual event for children, held at Wicksteed Park.

    The winner was the person who jumped the most stylishly and made the most mess.

    Melanie says she's proud and will "carry on jumping in puddles even if mum doesn't want me to".

    BuzzFeed reports, external Kettering MP Philip Hollobone is urging Mean Girls actress Lindsay Lohan to get in touch about turning on the town's Christmas lights.

    As the results came in for the EU Referendum, Lohan appeared to criticise Kettering in tweets after it voted Leave. Mr Hollobone later stood up in the House of Commons to invite her to Kettering to switch on the Christmas lights, and she tweeted she'd "be happy to".

    But BuzzFeed reports that Kettering Borough Council, which organises the Christmas festivities, has failed to locate her contact details.

  14. Public payphones could be removed from East Northantspublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 26 October 2016

    BT is proposing to remove 29 public payphones in East Northamptonshire. They include boxes in Brigstock, Thrapston and Rushden.

    After previous closures of payphones, the traditional red boxes have been given other uses, such as the tiny library in Warmington, photographed above.

    Among the suggestions for the latest closures, BT says some payphones have not been used for calls at all over the last 12 months. They include phones in Wakerley, Deenethorpe, Woodnewton, Tansor and Oundle.

    However, some payphones have been used hundreds of times in the last year. The phone on High Street West, Irthlingborough, was used for 408 calls.

    East Northamptonshire Council has launched a consultation, external about the proposals.

    England's head coach Eddie Jones has joked that calling up Northampton Saints' captain Tom Wood might be due to his rugged appearance.

    The Saints' captain hasn't featured for his country since last year's World Cup.

    Jones explained why he might have been picked: "It might have been the long hair and the beard. He might be like Sansom who gets strong with long hair and a beard."

  16. Prior's Hall in administration: Residents 'won't be affected'published at 16:05 British Summer Time 26 October 2016

    The managing company at Prior's Hall Park says residents and those buying property will not be affected by administrators being called in.

    More than 5,000 houses are due to be built at the Corby development. Bela Partnership and Corby Developments have been placed in administration, but the estate management company is not affected.

    Neil Edginton from BDG Property says house building will continue as usual: "Those people who're excited to be at Prior's Hall Park and to be moving into Prior's Hall Park should continue to be excited.

    "Their new home will be ready for them shortly and we've not disrupted that at all."

    Residents in Irthlingborough are objecting to the conversion of a disused chapel, because of fears of what may happen to the remains of people buried in the graveyard.

    The proposal is for the baptist chapel on Meeting Lane to be turned into five flats. There are a number of graves and gravestones in the grassed area surrounding the chapel. Irthlingborough Town Council is also objecting to the plans.

    District councillors will be told at a meeting tonight, external that graves will not be disturbed, although the gravestones will be repositioned.

    The administrators for the landowner and developer of Prior's Hall Park says they are "continuing to trade the business while a buyer is sought".

    Bela Partnership and Corby Developments have been placed in administration. David Soden and Phil Bowers of Deloitte have been appointed joint administrators.

    In a statement they say: "Significant progress has been made at the site over the last few years, with 559 homes now built and occupied and over 1,500 plots sold."

    Tom Wood's inclusion shows just how quickly things can change in a week. 

    From the abject disappointment of the loss in Castres, leading Saints in a disjointed and inconsistent start to the season, his battling performances have obviously caught the eye of Eddie Jones, who has seen his back row options diminished by injury.
