  1. Concern over woman, 87, missing from East Leakepublished at 14:25

    Police say they are growing "increasingly concerned" for the welfare of an 87-year-old woman from Nottingham, external who has gone missing.

    Merdza Michailovs was last seen leaving her home in East Leake in the early hours of this morning wearing a purple nightdress.

  2. Police and council in Mansfield to share centrepublished at 14:07

    Mansfield's Civic Centre is to be home to a new 'community safety hub' , externalwhich will see Nottinghamshire Police officers and the district council's community safety department working from the building.

    Ch Insp Neil Williams said the move was "a really positive step for community policing and safety" across Mansfield.

  4. What would shared elected mayor do?published at 13:48

    The 19 local authorities have published a detailed wish list of powers that a new shared elected mayor would have.

    They would receive a new housing investment fund and a devolved transport budget - as well as taking on the role of police and crime commissioner.

    Other regions already have deals in place and it's hoped that a new year and a new name will bring fresh impetus to the bid.

    Not least the apparent desire among senior Conservatives for Leicester and Leicestershire to join the deal too.

    The change from the East Midlands to the North Midlands is a clear attempt to focus minds on the two counties and two cities that have been involved in negotiations from the start.

  7. Devolution deal: Draft plan on the tablepublished at 13:00

    The draft plan would bring all the local authorities in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire together under a single elected mayor. 

    The idea is that all the local authorities - including both city and county councils and all the borough and district councils - will have a member on this proposed combined authority.

    It'll be one large organisation with an elected mayor at the head which will look after big strategic plans for the whole area.

    And today, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire councils have published details of a devolution plan which would see all of them working together on transport, housing, education and training.

    The University of Nottingham already owns land between Lenton Lodge and the Rose & Crown pub and says it has drawn up plans for a manufacturing research and development building on the site.

    Lenton Lodge was once the gatehouse to Wollaton Hall.

    It has turrets and walls up to 3ft thick and its gate is thought to have a mechanism that is the only one of its kind.

    The university says it will form part of its expansion of Jubilee Campus and they will be submitting an application for a new building on land next to it next week.

    You might see this building on Derby Road and wonder what it's used for.

    Well it's called Lenton Lodge and is currently used as an office by a private security firm.

    Now the Grade II listed Georgian building has been bought by the University of Nottingham for an undisclosed sum.

    BBC cameras went along to the second rough sleepers camp in Nottingham yesterday and spoke to Alec Cohen who helped set it up, external.

    We've had a lot of comments on this story on Facebook, external but Keld Sleepnot wrote: "As ever you see the division this sort of story creates. We have more than enough empty buildings and unpaid, avoided tax in this country to help both the homless and the refugees. If less time was spent hating people for being victims and more spent on caring oh what changes we could see."

    Mr England from Notts Golf Club says they have had a problem with motorcyclists using their golf course for "a long, long time" and police are aware of the issue but they have been unable to catch the culprits.

    He said the club would now work hard to repair the ground but it could be May or June before it is fully back to normal.

    Club captain Stewart England sounded understandably upset on the phone to us this morning as he spoke about the damage at the picturesque Hollinwell golf course.

    He said the club spends hundreds of thousands of pounds annually to keep the course at championship standard.

    "It is a real shame that people can do this sort of damage without any thought for the people that have created it and the people who use it," Mr England said.
