    Ashfield District Council has also sent a very short statement through about Jason Zadrozny being charged with child sex offences.

    A spokeswoman said they had been made aware of the charges by police this morning and would not be commenting any further at this time.

    Nottinghamshire County Council says that since changes to the Localism Act 2011, , externalthey no longer have the power to suspend councillors.

    Therefore Jason Zadrozny will not be disqualified from his councillor role unless he is later sentenced to a jail term of three months or more, or given a suspended sentence.

    Detectives investigating the discovery of a man's body in Gedling Country Park say they have identified him., external

    They had appealed for help to confirm who the man was as he had no identification on him and are now in the process of contacting his family.

    His death is not being treated as suspicious.

    The issue of data protection has raised some eyebrows today with some people on Facebook, external finding it a bizarre rule when Harry Whitehouse couldn't find out which hospital his mum was at.

    Diane Powell wrote: "Data protection taken to another level it's a joke I had the same problem with my mum."

    But Alison Dutton agreed with the rule: "Data protection has to be in place. If it wasn't in place anyone could ring the ambulance service or hospital and ask about anyone. It's wrong that he couldn't find her but the ambulance service can not be blamed for the laws they have to abide by."

    Jason Zadrozny has sent a statement denying today's charges, saying: "Absolutely nothing has changed.  I said last year that I would clear my name and nothing has changed.  

    "I look forward to clearing my name.

    "In the meantime, I will continue to represent my constituents in the conscientious manner they are accustomed to."

    The 29 year old took a Test-best haul of 5-59 in Australia's recent win over New Zealand.

    The allegations against Mr Zadrozny date from 2003 and 2006

    In 2007, he became the youngest council leader in England - and when he was first questioned by police in March last year, he was hoping to become Ashfield's first ever Liberal Democrat MP. 

    He was subsequently suspended by the party.

    Mr Zadrozny has said he "vehemently refutes the allegations" that have been made against him today.

    The 35 year-old is currently leader of the Ashfield Independents on both the district and county councils.

    The High Court heard Reuben Valentine has become a successful student while in prison and has been heavily involved in mentoring other prisoners.

    The judge ruled it was too early to tell if the improvement was permanent and said he believed Valentine was still a risk to the public.

    A man who stabbed a teenager to death in Nottingham nine years ago has lost an appeal to have his sentence reduced.

    Rueben Valentine stabbed 17-year-old Jason Spencer (pictured) eight times - twice through the heart - after his jacket was ripped during a "play fight".

    Lawyers in the High Court said Valentine, who is now 26, has won academic awards in jail and "become a tower of strength" to grieving prisoners. 

    Back in October 2007, he admitted murdering Jason - and was jailed for life with a minimum of 16 years.

    So we have now heard from EMAS in the case of the woman who was "lost" in the system for 18 hours, according to her son.

    They said they "have a legal duty not to disclose patient confidential information".  

    A statement from a spokesman continued: "The operator correctly declined to provide any details to Mr Whitehouse but did advise him that patients from Farndon are taken to the QMC and suggested he contact them.”

    We've had a statement from Nottinghamshire County Council following the news councillor Jason Zadrozny has been charged with 10 sex offences against a child.
